Hi Tomo,
I was wondering where you can use the altered scale in jazz improvisation, are you supposed to use it on chords that have the same notes as the altered scale, like a 7(b13) (but this chord has a major fifth so I’m not sure.) I remember you saying in one lesson that you don’t have to just use a certain scale when there is a specific chord, but you can create your own sound and tension, is this right?

I would love to see some lessons on Barry Harris six diminished scale, and how to use it in improvisation, and maybe chord melodies.

You should listen Charlie Parker playing. He plays a lot of altered phrasing. Listen Donna Lee, Confirmation, Blues For Alice etc.

You will understand it. If not, you need to know basic theory.
Bb7(13) = 6 5 6 7 8 6 = R 5 b7 M3 13 R ... You can have 5th & 13 beautifully.
This is my favorite 13th chord!
