Hi Tomo,

I've been working hard on the fundamentals section and I have a question about accenting beats to a metronome. I have gotten up to 80bpm with 16th notes and have been getting quite good at accenting the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th beats regularly and as a result I have also started noticing my playing and have been adding in accents where appropriate to a song I'm learning. Good bonus, right?

So my question is how fast should I work the metronome up to? I was thinking of starting to add in other time signatures like 3/4 or 5/4 etc. to diversify this skill. What do you think? What else should I be doing? Any advice would be appreciated.

You can go up a little by little. I should make that type lesson too.
I go 80.. then 75,70,65,60 so that you can test yourself how your time feel is steady?

In order to go faster, you need to go slower to check all the details!
Then you can go 80,82,84,86,88,90....
Or 81,83,85,87,89...etc. Be creative! This part is pure hard work!
Do as much as you needed.

Make sure you record yourself.
Only way to improve is to record yourself and check yourself!

Only 4/4 is good! If you want to do others... you can.
One at a time. If you think more than 4/4... too much asking and expecting!
