Hi Tomo,
I've been working on Major CAGED as in your video but since I've also been doing major and minor triads on all strings I started to see how they could connect with each other.
So, I noticed for example that the Am CAGED form appears to overlap onto the C CAGED form. Not exactly overlap but definitely the scale pentatonic and major/minor scales yet with different notes depending on if you are doing the minor or major of what ever key. Then as I continued I saw that the A major CAGED form scale wise not triad or arpeggios seems to map on to the G minor CAGED form in the sense I talked about. I've been learning the arpeggios in each of the forms, the triads forms that correspond and then the scales in major or minor.
So, is that correct? It appears to work out and I've checked to see that that the relative major and minor overlap as well. So, when I played the D major form the minor form is Bm and again it appears to check out. Would I be moving in the correct direction? If so, nice!, and where could I go as move on from there? If not where might those connections lie?
Thanks for your time in answering! Cheers!
CAGED Forms are based on Major chords so I only think Major chords, Major Scales and Major Pentatonic.
When I think minor triads, minor scale, minor pentatonic. It's different subject so I only think about minor.
Your way is typical visual player who wants mix things. So be careful!
Thank you.
Tomo
Thanks for your reply! What do you mean by visual player? As in someone who likes to visualize their learning? If that is what you mean you got me down perfectly. When I am trying to sleep at night and relax I often review with my eyes closed and definitely start to visualize what I've been learning. Tonight I'll be visualizing the Drop 2 dominant, major and minor 7th chords lol!
And I will be ultra careful as it can easy to mix them up, for sure!
You're very welcome! A little more visual & too much thinking & expecting answers (Way too smart to think about guitar playing)
I don't mean anything too specific. It's all in general. To visualize with the sounds & intervals then good! But if you write any shapes down on papers... then no good! Good job! I love R 5 b7 M3 voicing!
Good job!
Tomo
