Hey tomo i noticed when you strum swing r-3rd-7 your strumming hand is near the lower neck area of the guitar . This had made me explore different strumming positions. My default way is to play with my hand position more or less over the hole of my acoustic.
I notice when noel gallagher plays live acoustic he often plays with his strumming hand nearer the bridge.
I notice the tone is different in different positions , so strumming nearer the bridge gives a more “trebbly tone” and tighter string tension , the neck i notice is more bass and less trebbly and less string tension and over the hole is somewhere in the middle with both string tension and trebble and bass.
Is there a generalization you make for the “optimal strumming position”? Do you use different strumming position for diffferent situations ??? Would love to hear your thoughts. So if i was comping or doing r3rd-7 is it maybe better to strum closer to the neck , and if singing and playing maybe play nearer the hole or the bridge. This is something ive never really gove much conscious thought about but realise its probably very important lol
