So here is my 2nd attempt at Rose Room using the fingering Tomo suggested.
My amp is very loud and I recorded the backing track with a metronome.
(Sorry about the running water in the background).
If I used this as a performance piece would I be able to get into Berkeley?
Just wondering.
Thanks for listening.
Thanks for sharing this video!
Good job!
Good fingering positions & good self-made backing track.
So smooth!
Now techniques. If you like to improve more... your lefthand thumb position (to pay attention!)
You can learn so much about lefthand thumb position thing from November Challenge.
You could use a little more alternate picking if you like.
Good job! Yes! You could get in Berklee (as performance skill)
Thank you.
Tomo
Thank you so much for watching!
Bad habits are hard to break.
I’ve been playing for over 30 years with my thumb wrapped around the neck. I will try to pay more attention to my thumb position and alternate picking.
Thank you for your feedback.
You are amazing!
You're very welcome!
You can fix it no problems!
Please watch each week videos for November Challenge!
Those will help you. Later you have more freedom.
Thank you.
Tomo
Wanted to record Rose Room again (as I’ve been still working on it) with my MusicMaster Bass amp and single coil guitar. I’m playing to the click on backbeat at 40bpm.
Any critique is welcome. Thanks.
Tasteful and entertaining! Good job!
GM
Thank you George!
Thanks so much Rich for posting this video! You really improved your picking touch a lot! I really respect your big effort on getting a Musicmaster Bass Amp and tring your single coil guitar! This tempo is so good! Your tone is so beautiful! Great job!
A few things you can fix a little bit. Fingerings. Please watch my demo video more. And your thumb position (better than before…)
Tomo
Really nice Richard! That melody is complicated, and you nailed it. The MMBA sounds great too - hope you are enjoying practice with it.
Thank you Tomo.
I didn’t think my fingerings were bad but I did notice my thumb creeping up high behind the neck.
It’s funny I usually pay so much attention to that when I practice but I guess as soon as I put the camera on to videotape, the bad habits start creeping back in.
Thank you so much Richard.
You really sound amazing!
I needed to watch and hear this.
So many notes. I love it.
Kurt
Kurt ~ you are so kind.
Thank you for always responding.
I’m hoping there’s some improvement from a year ago.
I see I’m still wearing the same shirt lol.
Yes, improvement for sure Richard, but I thought you were really good way back then :-)
I hope you get to keep wearing that.
So sad when I finally wear out some of my old favorites and they end up becoming part of my Yard Work Uniform.
Kurt
Haha - yes as I’ve put on weight I’ve moved a lot of my clothes over to yard work clothes!
Thanks again Kurt!
The Autumn Leaves are here.
You look like you've lost weight to me.
Must be the yard work :-)
Kurt
Thank you Clay & Kurt for encouragement! Yes! Rich is pushing really good! So happy to see his videos!
Tomo
Ok. I’m sure everyone is sick of all the videos I post of me playing this song but…I do practice it all the time and happened to be recording my practice the other day and I thought this was a particularly good take. I wasn’t planning on posting it so I think I was more relaxed than usual. Just wanted to see what you thought. Thanks guys. Go Bills!
Sounds so good Rich! Thank you for sharing.
Your body is not moving with "Groove"
I think you should watch your body motion.
Normally I watch it without any sound so I can feel....
Please check around 1:17....
Tomo
I often feel like my playing sounds stiff so I was a bit happier with this performance because I was more relaxed but maybe I need to focus on actually ‘groovin’ with it a little more. Thanks for the feedback.
Good stuff as usual Rich! Really clean playing.
Great job Richard!
I am still working on the chords, but see what is possible.
Thank you for leading the way!
Kurt
You are playing so good Rich! We all have more things that we can work on (if you hear the difference) Please be happy and proud about what you are doing here. I think you can work on your body motion and you can work on "slow" tempo. I am always looking for slower tempo.
I am working slow swing groove... 48,46,44,42 on every beat! So much fun!
Tomo
sounds great and very nice playing. amazing to see how you've progressed. thanks for sharing the updates.
i also really enjoyed the slower tempo of the version you posted a month ago.
Thank you for watching JH.
Thank you jh for encouragement! It is so important to pracice a little slower than the original.
Tomo
On the up and up Rich. Sounds like you have it down pat to me. I like the backing track version too, just watched. Great tone!! Thank you for sharing your recording, super clear and easy Listening, excellent!! Definitely take this song and solid performance to the gig. - johno
Thank you Johno for encouragement! There are many own challenge threads here at GW forum. So much inspiration to all us! I am so grateful and thankful!
Tomo
Thank you Clay, Kurt, jh and Johno for encuragement! We all know that Rich is doing so good on playing Rose Room Solo and other things. (Solo Etude from Method Book). This is so amazing about guitar playing! More you learn and you can learn more! You will notice things that you haven't noticed before. Be humble and be thankful! I am so gtareful and thankful to have you guys here!
Tomo
You sound so great, Rich!
