I’m sorry for this long intro Hello Tomo and Guitar wisdom community! my name is Christopher
I’m 31 I’m a christian contemporary musician for a mostly Hispanic dominant church. I hope I’m not too late to start learning Guitar again 🤣😅I first started playing on the drums and have been playing since I was 16 and can play most of the songs played today and have played around local churches in CT. Long story short When I was younger my middle brother wanted to play the guitar so i put my guitar playing on hold so he can have room to grow, and I gravitated to the drums and we’ve both excelled on our respective instruments ever since. Now coming back to today I feel that I have enough experience on the drums that I can rededicate myself back relearning and progressing on the guitar. MY goal is to play along side my brother and other band mates as a Rhythm guitarist or fill in as lead when my brother is out, and break the mold of playing basic chord shapes and Rhythms at church. I caught the bug after watching one of my favorite guitarist Jorge Farajado playing a worship set, and seeing the showmanship, flare, skill all come together for my style of music and really just called out to me.
I’ve been practicing for like 4 months straight everyday after a 14 year hiatus 😅
I wanted to start by sharing my top 5 guitarist and 2 honorable mentions if you Tomo or the community can help me understand what makes these guys so special so I can incorporate the skills learn, grow and eventually blend into my own Style. that would be great.

Thanks Tomo I really appreciate it and will take in all information and advice that you can provide to help me along the way! and I will have the videos you suggested and highlighted for when i get to them within your lessons. i want to start from ground zero again and really carve out any bad techniques and build a very solid foundation again.
You're very welcome! My pleasure! So happy to hear that!b Please learn good techniques first.
Simple chromatic scale: You can search "November Challenge" so you can watch 4 different suggested videos and you can learn that slowly! Then look up "Essential Theory" section. And learn triad inversions slowly. You can also learn R 3 7 Swing groove / Blues chord progression.
If you can you should check "Sight-reading" section. That book is so good!
Thank you.
Tomo
Welcome to GW. Thanks for the introduction. I noticed many Spanish guitarists on your list. Have you ever listened to Rodrigo y Gabriela? They are pretty great imo.
Happy New Year! All the best!
