Hi Everyone,
I've noticed in the past short while some users have expressed interest in connecting with like minded guitarists whether it be in person or online via Teams, Discord, JamKazaam or Jamulus.
Therefore, I'm posting this as a survey question to see what interest people have and in what format.
The questions are:
1-Would you like to have more opportunities to connect with GW users?
2-If yes, then what format would be best for you? Online or In Person
Let's see what the interest is and see what we can do to connect more often and maybe in a more interactive manner.
Cheers!
Michael
P.S. I've used and interacted musically in all the online and in-person formats so if you have questions about them, please feel free to do so.
Hey Michael, I always loved the idea of playing with others no matter where they live. Just have to agree on the same platform. I wonder how well Zoom would handle jams? I know those guys who created albums did so remotely; Covid. Anyone have any experience with jamming w/ others online?
Hi,
I used zoom and for me and some friends it was terrible and lots of lag. Maybe others have been more successful or know a function or trick but it didn't work for me.
Jamulus the free open source music sharing platform I found best. Easiest to use and no cost. I had some friends set up a private server to play on but they have many open and private servers to choose from. The only draw back is geography. If you are too far apart there can be lagging issues and if you have super fast connection or are hardwired into the internet and not on wifi most of the lag issues can be worked around.
The best overall way I've had is to record songs on our own and send them to each other to mix to do a song or cover. No lag :)
Hope that helps a bit. Have a great day!
