Thank you so much Capt Mark!
Learning is not memorizing things.
Be familier with things so scales, triads, arpeggios... can appeared a few different ways.
One string.
Two strings
3 strings etc. So if you draw any shapes... no good!
Don't worry! You will get there.... but slowly and deeply!
Before triads, you need to know all the notes (basic)
So you need to learn C Major scale on one string with first finger.
This include theory and ear training.
So think about R M2 M3 4 5 M6 M7 ...
Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do...
C D E F G A B C... Super slowly so you don't memorize them.
Be familiar with them (With every directions)
Then you can learn triad inversions:
3 ways you can do.
A) Vertical
b) Horrizotaly
c) Same inversions
By the way, Mark, did you study this lesson? Do this slowly... for a few weeks.

You can think those shapes but you need to hear them, know them what they are (which inversion?) before you play them so that you are not just memorizing shapes.
Let me know.
Do you understand a little bit?
Thank you for a great question.
