Thank you, Jiayang! This is helpful. I need to learn about setting up my guitars too. I don't do more than change my strings and keep them clean. I would love to be able to tighten down the guitar jack where I plug in my cable. They can get loose on some of my guitars. I worry about making things worse or what I am going to break by taking things apart. I appreciate you setting a good example for me to not be afraid to learn to work on my guitars.

Thank you Jiayang for this thread.

When you change your string on ES335... Leave one string (High E)
so your guitar bridge will not move.

If you talk all the strings then it's easy to move the height of the bridge,
Your string height should be 1.5mm to 2.00 at the 12th fret. If it's lower than this..... not great!

You would sound great playing those chords on your cool guitar.
That Gretsch has too many options with all the switches and knobs. I need to play it more and figure it out. I really only seem to work on Travis picking when I pick it up. I originally bought it because I knew how good it would look next to my orange kitty.

Yes , My acoustic guitar don't have guitar room , it's martin guitar bag , some humidity bag 72 % & Oasis humidifier .
Still learning better way to protect guitar :)

I am horrible!

My room is get a little dry so many guitar's necks are a slightly moved so the string height is slightly higher... then soon... more humidity will fix this all.

I don't use any humidifier.
Plus I have more solid guitars.

This is really helpful! I learned a lot. I'm really happy to see how to properly tighten the input jack. I battle a fear of making things worse when I try to fix them. Seeing this video helps my confidence.

I have learn the pickup height is important & the distance of string to fret not is " closer is better " , we need pay attention note sustain .
Ps: I already have the red box journey tiny tool box:) Seems really nice , but need to learn how to use ;)

Hi Jiayang, everyone’s input here is correct. Always wind high to low, like you did on the low E string.

Winding low to high, like you did on the A string, puts more stress on the post and the string lands high on the nut. Winding high to low is better for the guitar and for the transfer of the string across the nut to the fretboard.

I really like the number of winds you have on each post, I think it helps the guitar stay in tunep better!

I purchased the Stew Mac tool kit pictured in the above Tomo video several years ago. A bit pricey, but totally worth it. Compact, easy to carry. Good for guitars and other stuff around the house as well!
