String Bending (Muting Lower Strings)

Hi! Whenever I bend notes on the high E or B strings, I always hear dead notes on the G or D string when I lower the bend. I'm curious how people can mute them so well. Do you use your palm to mute those lower strings?

I wanted to learn Larry Carlton's Sleepwalk, and I can see that he's playing those bends so cleanly! Any practice advice would be helpful. Thank you!

I usually try and use the palm of my right hand to mute the bottom strings. Try it and see if it works for you.

One can try and bend with 2 fingers while the index finger is doing the muting. Similar as in R37 swing uses it to mute on I7 chord. Didnt master that bending technique but it makes some sense to try that way. Index is still behind middle finger during the bend but not on the same string, it lightly touching the lower one (or two)

Another great job digging into the archives Jia! Pure Gold!
Really important to see how to use those triads and hear the stories about how Tomo developed his own sound.
Tomo is an influence on Larry too, I'm sure. I heard Steely Dan would audition people to play solos for their tunes and Larry would always win.
These lessons are fun to watch and listen to even without your guitar. I'm so happy I'm learning from Tomo with all my friends here.
