Hi Tomo & Team:

What equipment do you need to make a loop / backing track to practice with?
I'm kind of a noob when it comes to gear, but would like to be able to do some of the things you are doing in the videos and really walk through the exercises.

I have a couple guitars (PRS Paul's Guitar SE, and Lincoln Brewster Signature Fender Stratocaster), for my amp I have a Fender Blues Junior IV and that's basically it.

What kind of device do I need to make a recording and loop it?

Hi Chris - before I had a looper pedal, I'd just use the voice recorder on either my phone or iPad. It's not the greatest quality, but it was better than nothing. It's not a true loop, but it's something that you can play along with.

I did just upgrade my loop pedal to a RC5, and I must say, it's pretty sweet! There's a bit of a learning curve. Reddit was a great resource for coming up with a strategy for getting it set up. the RC5 has 99 memory slots for loops. What I'm in the process of doing is setting up up slots 1-10 as my library of time signatures/rhythms/tempos. Then when I'm ready to create a loop, I'll dial up one of the presets and when I'm ready to store the newly created loop, I'll store it in one of the slots from 11-99. That way I have a library that will never get erased that has the levels/tempos and rhythms that I use and need to practice.

Looping for your own backing track has the great secondary effect of exposing many things you can work on!
