Hi professor and guitar wisdom members.
I have my birthday in 1 month and ofcourse the only thing that i want is a good guitar!
I am practicing alot for more than a year everyday and i believe i am ready to give myself a good instrument!
I am playing alot of greek pop songs and I sing but also the acoustic classics like layla, wish you were here, wanted dead or alive, and I love the playability that my guitar has! I own a apx apx500 yamaha!
This guitar there is not even exist anymore only her brother apx600! After 12 years that I play with this guitar i love her and I like the sound and the playability that has but it is a beginner instrument!
My problem is that i am from a small town in greece and we don't have a big music shop that i can hold a quality instrument or the instrument that i want to buy!
The guitar that i am dream about is an LL 16 D yamaha but i need to go to Athens to play it! And I don't have the time or the extra money to make this trip!!
(The other guitar that i wanted is the Ava orangewood that professor Tomo plays but apparently orangewood don't come in Europe!
The other thing that i am afraid is that i could not play solos and lead so good in a classic acoustic and i am thinking to buy the Cpx 1200 ll TBL that is a similar upgrade to my Apx!
Should I buy something without play it!?
If anyone knows about this guitars or have any advice i would love to hear it!
Have everyone a great day đ
Cheers, Markos! And Happy pre-Birthday to you! What a great space to be in, time for a new guitar. Itâs always exciting. Youâve gotten some good suggestions here.
Part of what I want to say is that you labeled your guitar a âBeginner guitarâ, yet you seem to really really like it. So many professional musicians use guitars of lesser apparent quality because they really like them and have bonded with them. So I wouldnât underestimate that. That said itâs always nice to add in another!
On the matter of money and travel, if the shop in Athens is reputable and has a good return policy, then that could be a direction to look in.
I donât think shipping cost would be too high from the UK. So you might want to look on reverb.com in the UK. I have found that if I contact sellers directly by phone or email I can sometimes get a better deal. You can also find their return policies that they use which in many cases would only involve you paying the shipping to return the instrument.
New is cool, but donât count out a nice guitar with some player experience. Tone woods open up overtime, and a played guitar is often a better sounding guitar.
If you have any questions about reverb.com just let me know. Iâm not super experienced, but Iâve had enough to where I might be able to give a hand.
Good luck in the hunt! Itâs so much fun!
