Hi GW Friends!
In response to my 1 year GW appreciation post, Jiayang accurately said that I'm working so hard to learn guitar because I'm chasing a dream. And last night it hit me, Jiayang is 100% correct, I am chasing a dream I've had for so long.
My dream is to get good enough that one day I can play with some of my heroes like Tommy Emmanuel or Radiohead and one day release my own album and do some concerts or a small tour. I'd also love to jam with Tomo one day. Wouldn't these dreams be amazing to achieve?
These all appear to be unrealistic goals for me but I won't let anyone deter me. Maybe I make it and maybe I don't but I will try my hardest to get there no matter what.
So, I want to ask you all, what is your ultimate guitar dream? I'm curious what motivates you to play guitar?
Thanks for reading and sweet dreams!
Awesome thread Michael!
Thanks so much!
Beautiful dream goals!
Great way to think... what do you need to jam with those guys?
If someone who wants jam with Tomo? I love blues! I love jazz blues! I love funk!
Maybe think about tunes?
Looking forward to hear everyone's own dream!
Tomo
Michael, thanks for such a thoughtful question. I'm on the older end of students (64) learning from Tomo and STILL a student of life, striving to become better than I am. Back in the day, I wanted to emulate Dimeola and L.Breau, and E.Johnson, and I never drifted too far away from mediocre guitar. Today, I aspire/ dream to use this instrument to internalize the music and feel the sounds, rhythms, and vibrations come out to harmonize with that which is around me. It's like I'm dancing and the guitar is my partner. Hopefully what comes out sounds ok. Tomo -thank you for reminding me how amazing the guitar is as a tool for living. MainlyTaylors and Ibanez for practice.
Thank you Fred being here!
I am a forever student myself.
Hope you found a few things to imitate / understand those your influences.
Your case, do you practice jazz standards?
