A question for the live stream
=>This Friday !
Can you explain what you call “playing inside”
Yes! This Friday 3/21... 8pm EST
"Playing Inside" A little more information around this question?
Thank you.
Tomo
Yes the 12 minute mark from the video today ‘same ol blues’, I think you said: “now if you want to play a bit more inside” .
I’m interested to understand more what this term means.
Thank you! This time "Inside" means follow exact chord changes with triad inversions.
Tomo
Question came up listening to Driving in Texas on Pure. The solo is awesome. Right before three minute mark there is a repeating phrase that sounds like an organ or harmonica maybe, three notes. Then there’s an ascending thing happening at 3:20. How do you do these sounds . So cool.
This song blues rocks very hard. Check this song out if you haven’t yet.
“Driving to Texas”
Have many things to practice maybe this is for later but was just wondering . Thanks!
Thank you Jeffrey for this question!
Drive in Texas in my PUEE CD. Thank you so much!
Is that 2 notes.... in 3rds... Diatonic (Blue Monk melody...)
I can show you that. That's what I do on Just Funky solo on Blue Sky album.
THAT was old blues phrase... I added a little bit my own.
Thank you.
Tomo
Ok! Sounds great! I definitely want to learn that after the ones I’m on. Thank you!
Jeffrey,
Please listen this around 2:00....
I borrowed Lonnie Johnson lick! (Two notes = double stops)
This is a great example that you should not create your own phrase from scales & theory!
Learn from "Performance" "Old Record" learn it and apply it.
I did!
Thank you.
Tomo
Wow! Love this way of playing and the chromatic movement. Fun to hear what he is going to do next! Great inspiration to learn from the masters.
Kurt
Yes! Inspiration!
I learn that tiff from Lonnie Johnson!
Even just one song is good!
Thank you.
Tomo
Thank you Tomo. Wow this is so nice! Yes I hear it in here. Now I want to listen to more Lonnie Johnson. Love the tone of his guitar and style. I think I hear some of the things we’ve been learning in here. Diminished chords too.
You're very welcome!
As you hear, I took Lonnie's idea and I pushed with SRV's lawn mowing picking technique!
We all learn from somebody!
Thank you.
Tomo
