When it all comes together. Watched Tomo's Santana Europa YT lesson. Learned to play the progression. Light bulb #1. Many chords shared with Blue Bossa. Great. So time for me to get back to Blue Bossa again. Light bulb #2. R37 are a miracle. The R b7 3 grip with little finger added is 7#5 chord which appears in both Europa and Blue Bossa. And R 3 b7 grip with little finger added gives 7#9 chord (used in Blue Bossa too it seems). Light bulb #3. Any sort of R37 grip when developed is a framework which by adding little finger to manipulate further gives so many chords in jazz and elsewhere. I can only hope that after playing those much i will start hearing and recognizing them. Thank you Tomo, R37 are the nucleus for so much. Triads are too. Small objects, fundamentals, foundations. Both SPRINGBOARD for SO MUCH STUFF down the line.
Thanks so much Silvijie for this topic & your comment!
So happy to hear that. Europa = Blue Bossa = Autumn Leaves = KYOTO
Similarities!
Yes! You got it! For 6th string root: R 7 3 so you can add b13(#5) or 13 on 7th chord!
For 5th string root: R 3 7 so you can add b9 or 9th or #9th on 2nd string!
Good job! R 3 7 concept & blues, jazz blues, minor blues & Jazz standards...
These make you better (harmony & soloing!)
Thank you.
Tomo
