Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

My intention is to progress, not to be perfect. I've learned a bit about muting, like how an open B or E string sounding will vibrate the low E string if left unmuted. I seem to prefer my thumb to mute the low E in that instance, though it is possible to palm mute.

I'm pretty aware of where I rushed a bit, and some unwanted string noise, but not going for perfect, just intending to improve. Thanks for listening.

Tomo teaches us:

" Most people would pick comfortable & fun tempo. That's good for entertainment level but nothing will improve for sure.

Slower you practice, you will improve faster and you can play faster later."

This is one of the most important things I need to remember each day as I am on my journey.
Playing slowly reveals so much that you can't hear when you speed up.

I trust Tomo when he says we will play faster later by slowing down.

Hi Tomo,

I believe learning to go slower may be working some magic on me. I’ve begun to notice a tightening in my jaw when there’s tension in fretting fingers while playing certain passages in the music. This “tell” is a cue for me to stop and examine what exactly is causing the tension. Omg this is revealing!

So, of course I have a question as it applies to alternate picking. Here it is:

When your you are alternate picking at a slow or medium speed, do you experience ANY tension in your right shoulder, or is it relaxed?

Great great playing Ken. Really nice performance. Caught it just now but glad I didn’t miss. Great playing and I couldn’t help but watch the control in your right hand. Also your dynamics definitely improved, picking more normal and soft vs hard. Inspired to go try this myself this week. Thank you
