Isn't it fun practicing with Tomo?
Today I decided to check out the Stella By Starlight Jazz Standard lesson (JS 19).

Love when Tomo starts soloing and leaves you to try to back him up.
This progression is challenging. Love how he solos here on this classic Jazz Standard.

"Try to make it a little better everyday. Try to enjoy the process"- Tomo Fujita
Wow! You are duetting with me!
Fantastic job! You made me sounds better with your comping!
Thank you so much!
Okay... let's do this more!
You started something really fun!
Tomo
Thanks, Tomo! I appreciate your kind encouragement more than you know.
It is so much fun to "play with a pro". Like Fantasy Fujita Guitar Camp.
I hope we see and hear more duet time from our friends here.

"There's nothing wrong that a good shuffle boogie can't cure"- T-Bone Walker
My pleasure! Thanks for making this video!
It's so special! Sounds so good!
Good shuffle... can make our life so rich inside!
Not easy to play!
Tomo
Thank you so much for helping us and encouraging us to make real progress at our own pace.
You are so generous with your expertise and time! We all appreciate it.
Not very important, but I've been meaning to ask you about the Blues Shuffle Bassline.
I heard if the melody is descending, it is called the "Downtown" groove. If it is ascending it is called the Uptown groove"
This lesson would be the "Downtown Groove" because the melody is descending.

Do you ever hear those bass lines being referred to that way?
I know you don't use some terms like "Shell Chords" for R37 forms.
Thanks again for jamming with us
Let's keep going!
Kurt
You're very welcome! My pleasure1
Going up bassline = uptown
Going down bassline = downtown
Good shuffle = flat tire!
Something like that.
Shell voicings, shell chords are popular term...but think about shape is not that great,
Thank you.
Tomo
