Hi Tomo,
I'm finally starting to feel better after over doing guitar for a long time and I'd like to get slowly started on playing once again. I have a question about chromatic scale technique.
So, the question is: When you are doing a chromatic scale and you have you have four fingers touching the strings, do you add pressure on each finger as you do them or when you are ascending does the lead finger apply pressure while the fingers behind the lead finger also press down on the string or do you slightly release them?
I am trying to apply a focus of light touch to ensure that I am working without too much unnecessary strain. I look forward to your advice.
Thanks!
P.S. For other people who might have some repetitive stress from playing too much or you want to avoid getting an avoidable injury like I did I'd recommend these physiotherapy exercises for the hand/wrist etc. They are a great way to warm up and cool down and to do throughout the day to stay limber.

Btw these exercises are called nerve gliding.
Nerve gliding, also known as nerve flossing, is a physical therapy technique that involves gentle, controlled movements to stretch and improve the movement of nerves, particularly those that can become irritated or compressed.
Thank you Michael for sharing this to us.
Chromatic scale. Details are all in our November challenge so please read watch videos.
I think I made all important points very clear in each demo video & in writing in this threads.

Keep all your fingers down until 4th finger / note is played.
1,2,3, fingers are on the string / fret but less pressure as possible.
You're very welcome! Thank you for sharing!
Tomo
Thanks for confirming that the 1,2,3 fingers are using less pressure then the leading 4th one. I had been applying consistent pressure on all fingers while doing these in the past.
Again small details yet so important for such a seemingly innocuous exercise.
Thanks! Looking forward to playing again but this time doing is smarter and with more care.
My pleasure!
Yes! Tiny details makes a huge difference.
That's why we need to practice supper slow and think deeply.
Never decide it too fast!
Thank you.
Tomo
