Hi all,

Lately I've been bouncing around topics a little too frequently, so I wanted to make a space for myself on the forum to assist in holding myself accountable and stick to whatever I'm working on. I think this could be a nice addition to my notebook as a place to maybe post some progress and lean into the community a little more. For instance, right now I am working on my left-hand muting technique and the chromatic challenge from November. If anyone in the community likes the sound of this, please feel free to join me in this thread.

Yup, it's a great idea to find ways to make yourself accountable, for sure. For me I play with a friend a number of times a year and that act makes me accountable because he is much more accomplished player than I am. And if I can keep up with him then I know I'm on the right track.

Another good way, I know you have a notebook, is to take very detailed practice notes and set short, medium and long term goals and see if your practice sessions are getting you to where you want to be.

And nothing is better than recording yourself and either critiquing yourself or getting Tomo to do.

Hi Tim - This is a great idea. I did the November Challenge and was surprised initially at how difficult some of the ideas were. I'm still working on lifting some fingers w/o making any noise. Who would have thought that would be so difficult?

I'm getting into the habit of making my own "Challenges" to work on specific things. I've just started a triad challenge to help me really get ALL of the triads under my fingers. I'm working to get the diminished and augmented triads as second nature as the major and minors are. I just take a few minutes every morning as a stand alone practice session to run through vertical and horizontal triads around the cycle of 4ths.
