Hi,
Great content here at guitar wisdom. I’m now looking througt the modes and scales under EMT. Currently I’m focusing on dorian and mixolydian. But I am wondering at which tempo I should love on to the next mode/scale?
In my mind and musical taste dorian and mixolydian seems most relevant to me,

should I also learn f.eks. the whole scale just to have some more knowledge, but maybe not take a deepdive into it?

It’s a lot of info for my brain in EMT, so I am bit afraid of taking too big bites. What is your approuch and tempo for learning modes/scales etc

Hi Hans, my initial approach was playing along and stopping and going back many times on one section. That can be good. I lately take approach of not playing when I’m watching the videos. Really try to listen and then after to try to apply. I think this way you have understand more vs copying. Copying doesn’t always sink in for me or I only can play that same passage. Notice this way watching whole video leaves more time to rewatch in full vs in chunks from start stop rewind start etc. Not sure if this is answering your questions but something might help or new thing to try. Maybe you already do this too. I am also reviewing the new videos on essential music theory. Nice guitars!

I think my approach will be to get an understanding of all the lessons, get familiar with the sound (notename, intervall, solfege, one string, compare with ionian) of the scales/modes. Do some slowly improv phrases with looper and suggested chordprogression from the lessons.

Basically increase my musical knowledge and tool box. And take deepdives into the sounds I like.
