So many comments & replies!
Thank you so much guys!
GW forum is so amazing!
Great commumication!
Tomo
Yes thank you Tomo. To week two.
End of week 1 update:
As promised, I practiced everything I said in my last post here, now, I manage to play all the D triads on the fretboard without mistakes (or very few), saying out loud the inversion, singing the notes and the Italian names. So nice!
Can't wait to start week 2!
Thank you Leon for your Week 1 update.
Good job! Not looking. One string approach. Singing. Inversions. Do Re Mi.. and triad inversions on One String & 123 set strings!
Review is always so good!
Please enjoy Week 2.
Tomo
Thanks for your update, Leon! Way to stick with your word.
That sounds like progress, great feeling to get less mistakes. Less practice, more mistakes. Nice to really dial back to only one triad D and focus on all the techniques in week one. Moving right along!!
Love to hear it, Johno! Thanks for sharing :)
Day 7 delayed
A little confused about the day due to time zones, hurry and whatnot. However, tried some of this tentatively:
" 1) One string / one finger approch to play D Major scale.
Think name of notes / eacg intervals / sing Do Re Mi.
apply D Major scale to sing these:
a) Do Re Mi, Re Mi Fa...
b) Do Re Mi Do, Re Mi Fa Re,
c) Do Mi, Re Fa
d) Do Re, Do Mi,
Sing first then play them without looking, no sliding.
2) Play D Triad Inversions on one string (2nd string)
Do Mi So, Mi So Do, So Do Mi...
Did you try these without looking at the fretboard?
3) Play D triad inversions on 123 set strings.
Super slowly! Stay each triad for 4-5 seconds or more. "
It would be neat to to be able to instantly connect each Do/Re/Mi.. to a note in each scale.
All good, Mija! Day 1 is whenever you start...we are all moving on our own time anyway :)
Thank you for sharing your detailed notes. Don't expect too fast!
Thank you Mija for Day 7.
Don't worry anything! We are very flexible!
Good job! Imagne the sound, singing, not looking, play notes!, No sliding!
Yes! Do play 3 notes triad inversions on one string without looking.
Okay to hit wrong note! That's great to do! If you can do Do Re Mi Do...and Do Mi Re Fa..
So you already know M3 and m3 without looking at...
Super slowly is so good! Not looking and play triad inversons on 123 set strings.
You can do more! This is Challenge so only one week on one topic but if it's your own goal... you can do one topic for a long time!

Hi everyone!
Although we are nearing the end of Week 2, I want to share how I’m feeling about Week 1, and what stands out to me is how fully everyone has embraced Tomo’s approach, even when it didn’t feel natural. I see so many of you giving 100%, listening closely to feedback, responding thoughtfully to each other, and sharing openly through videos and notes. It’s raw and honest, just like the work we do every day to get better.
A few reminders we keep returning to:
* Sing first. It doesn’t have to be perfect.
* Don’t look at the fretboard. Trust yourself.
* Slow down more than you think you need to.
* Mistakes are useful. Let them teach you.
* You can practice without your guitar (visualizing, reflecting, or singing).
This challenge is about so much more than triads. It’s about slowing down, really listening, learning, and reflecting. No matter what happens in between, we’ve got each other to encourage, support, and keep going. And we have Tomo’s guidance and wisdom to trust that we’re on the right path and will get there on our own time.
I am in awe of how dedicated, passionate, and supportive this community is. Honestly, I’m not surprised because this group is special and kind, but it’s truly inspiring to watch how coming together in this way deepens our connections and opens up new ways to grow.
If you’re still working through Week 1, or even just starting, please know there’s no rush. Keep moving at your own pace. This space is open and here for all of us to share, learn, and encourage one another.
I’m so excited to see where this journey takes us and to continue growing alongside all of you!
Sammi
Thank you for sharing this, Sammi!
Such important reminders to keep working on as we move forward,
I love your description of what you are seeing happen at GW:
"It’s raw and honest, just like the work we do every day to get better."
I feel the same way about what is happening here!
On to Week 3 and more raw, honest learning and growing in new ways!
Kurt
