Thanks to Tomo on some very essential tips of slowing down to practice for improvisation, I have been practicing autumn leaves for like the 5 weeks from the beginning of Berklee Aspire program but at the end I still struggled to improvise a solo over the song.
Then I asked for tomo's advise and thanks to the advises of slowing down and of 3 months 1 song 1 style I'v been practicing R37 swing, arpeggios and triad inversion of every chord for 3 weeks now (in Dm), and when I played over Eric Clapton's version (Bm) today it felt so much different, I can feel myself transposing chords, thinking the notes that I'm playing and their degree. In addition my dynamics and speed control are completely different now!
Huge thanks!
Thank you, Raymond, for sharing your progress.
Your hard work is truly inspiring.
That is such a great progression.
Working hard and learning is so much fun when you can feel and hear the progress you are making.
Kurt
Thank you kurt, love how you are everywhere helping me and others!
You’re very welcome Raymond.
Good job! Keep practicing R 3 7 Swing with slow tempo.
Very important to strum up each beat. So you can work on your left hand muting.
You can play simple minor pentatonic and triads from each chords too.
Practice Cm F Bb Eb Adim D Gm G… on top 123 set strings.
Tomo
