Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

Hi Everyone! Hi Tomo!
First of all I live in Brazil and I wish to become a musician in Japan! My main inspirations in the music world are Yonezu Kenshi, Suda Keina and Eve. They’re my big 3 haha. And I LOVE a good funky guitar!

I’ve been playing the guitar for 7 months now but I am extremely unsatisfied with my progress. It’s mainly my tutor’s fault, he basically only used to teach me things I had no interest in and he’s methodology was not ideal for a serious learner.
So all I have is technical skills, I lack knowledge of theory and I don’t know how to read music.
I can’t get this wasted time back, but I’ll give my best to become a great guitar player and musician.

I’m glad to now be part of this community and I hope to learn a lot from Tomo!

You say you have been learning for 7 months, and that it’s not gone well, that you feel it’s time that’s been wasted. As someone who is an absolute beginner 7 months is nothing, so please don’t think it’s wasted. It shows how serious you are and how much you want to learn. All the things you mentioned that you want to learn is right here, so congratulations. Music theory, learning to read music, funk guitar. Look no further my friend, Master Tomo has your back!

Hey Kohri ~ nice to have you on board.
I think I have you beat… I’ve been playing guitar for over 30 years and I’m still a beginner.
I’m just now realizing from Tomo and this platform that in order to get better we reallyneed to slow down.
Tomo’s precepts are not just nice words.
If we can follow them we will make progress.
The hardest one for me to adhere to is ‘Don’t expect too fast’
