1 6 2 5 in Key of D. Simple rhythm guitar & soloing idea. This topic came from one of my private lessons at Berklee. We were working on Masayoshi Takanaka song "Sexy Dance" So chords are DMaj7 B-7 E-7 G/A and you can play DM9 B-7 E-9 A13 too... a few different choices. These chords are very similar to Breezin by George Benson. Fun chord progression and fun to play solo over this chord progression. You can play D Major scale, D Major Pentatonic/chord tone and you can also play D minor pentatonic sound on ii V (E-7 A7 chords) Have a fun!
Please give me your feedback on this video.
Thank you.

Great to watch and listen, as usual. But I'm not at the point I can use yet. Still practicing solo etude on Blue Monk. In my noodling time, I have been playing with 1 6 2 5 progressions, trying to add different flavors / voicing to the chords. Also sometimes replacing 1 with 3. But that's just play time, even though I am trying to apply what I've learned about triads, playing cleanly, etc. Thanks for posting - it's always inspirational / aspirational for me.
Thank you Clay for watching. This is like... recreating my private lesson like... so no pressure! Just enjoy watching this video.
We are still working on Blue Monk melody, Solo etude and R 3 7 soft picking (finger picking) with a metronome at 60 a lot!
That's very important foundation in order to play well.
You're very welcome!

Great info Tomo! Thank you.
That is a fun progression. Dmaj7 Bm7 Em7 G/A(A7)
Soloing is still a little advanced for me. Working on bending etc.
Fun to play DMAJ pentatonic and practice triads over this though.
Cool George Benson idea to use minor Pentatonic over Em and G, Sounds bluesy.

Thank you Kurt! Glad to hear that! Please enjoy it!
Don't worry! Good job! Triads are so useful!
Basically ii V I... you can use minor bluesy sound.
Tomo
Yah Kurt - I liked learning that too - minor pentatonic over the 2 5 part.
