I’ve been learning from Guitar Wisdom for about two months now. I’m currently studying sight reading, triads, theory, and blues lessons — almost all at the same time.
But of course, I can’t learn everything in one day. The sight reading lessons feel especially difficult; I might need a whole week just to get through one lesson. It’s the same for the other parts — I can understand them with my brain, but it takes a lot of practice to really feel them in my heart.
So my question is: should I slow down and focus on fewer things at a time?
Yeah - agree with Rich - Tomo will have good guidance. My practice is very similar to Rich's:
Chromatics
Sight-reading
Blue Monk
All of Me
Triads
I just recently figured out how long I had been studying sight-reading - Kurt is on a mission too. Anyway, it's been like 72 days. And I'm on page 14. So don't be discouraged by progress- slow is good. I know for sight-reading, Tomo's guidance in the past has been that it is most important to hit it consistently - ideally every day, but less important how long you do it each day. 10min is good enough.
Thank you Tobi for sharing your guitar journey experience! I bet everyone will chime in here soon. Good job on those items.
Start with 2-3 main items / topics are so great! On top of those, I would recommend technique exercises a little everyday. Even 3 minutes but everyday! Chromatic scales…. 1234…1212…. Crazy chromatic!
I always slow down and focus on less thing deeply but your call. You can try them…something makes you intersted…
Tomo
