Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

I was watching this video ("Bass playing can make you a better guitarist! (4 String Bass)") and have been wanting to play bass a little again for fun. Came to ask Tomo and the community if anyone has a strong preference or case to make for a good all-around bass. For me it's a toss up between a Precision and a Jazz (and I used to have a Precision with a Jazz neck that I liked a lot). Any advice appreciated.

Now off to buy the Kindle version of Tomo's book in English. (Got one the version in Japanese but it's way beyond may feeble Japanese language skills.)
