Hey fellas,
Sometime ago, I got a Kemper amp, because it can sound really great, is portable, affordable and offers me every amp or effect I can imagine. And this is way too much. I still get confused by all the possibilities. every time I start playing it don’t takes long and I’m tweaking this thing playing around with it not with the guitar.
Like Tomo always says: I like it simple. Sure, I can simply sell it and buy a blues Junior for practice at home or a deluxe reverb. But I still like the kemper because of its portability and flexibility in different set ups.
Do you guys have any experience with digital amps? I mean, is there some kind of best practice on keeping it simple for practice?
Thank you for your thoughts on this topic.
Cheers
Thanks for sharing. I think as long as you had your experiece practicing with a regular amp with no headphone etc. Then this is fine. As long as you hear your guitar sound through a speaker cabinet. No computer or no headophone and no effect. Less bass, more treble and loud enough so that you feel slighly uncomfortble to play. (not too easy to pick strings) Thank you for sharing this! Only thing... I don't think it is effective to learn your picking dynamics and details.

Hey Bjorn - I use a quad cortex when I jam with my friends. But I turn all amp and speaker modelling off (global setting) and just use as a pedal board - because I am playing through an amp. When I first got it, I played at home through an FRFR speaker, and also found myself messing with it more than practicing. Based on all the advice from Tomo and GW folks, I tried to set it up so that it would replicate the simple bright tube sound with no reverb. No matter what I did, it somehow "cleaned" my sound a little. I ended up getting the Music Master Bass Amp (plenty of lore in another thread). I now practice exclusively on that amp, and just use the quad cortex for jamming. I wish I could be more helpful, but I wasn't able to find settings that didn't at least somewhat mask my little noises. In fairness, I might have given up too soon. But I'm very happy with the little tube amp.
Thank you Clay for sharing your experience! Very helpful to others!
The Musicmaster Bass Amp can make you a better player! Amazing little amp!
