Here is my latest practice on Chromatic Scale.
Thank you Scott for your recent video! Your tone is so great! Much better sustain too!
Be proud of yourself! Great efforts and beautiful result! You made me so happy!
Tomo
YEEAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!! I do not have a movie reference for pinkies. Maybe the spongebob episode where they have to keep there pinkies up. Very Very steady though. I don't see any shake. Pinky can, should be closer.
AMAZING. I really enjoy the dynamics you were using.

Silly pinkie!! 😂
Thank you Tomo! Progress is good! 😊
Great work and improvement Scott! Love your intentionality and sustain.
Nice Scott. I notice from your earlier video to this one you are getting better sustain on the notes. You’re now picking a little softer while the strings are resonating more. Your thumb looks to be in good position in the center middle of the neck. I’m also trying to work on this one sitting up straight and moving my body forward on the down beat. There’s so much to learn on this exercise, never ending journey.
Yes, exactly! Thanks, Jeff! I am grateful for the progress I am making. You are helping me to see it. I forgot to move. LOL. I'll write that down for tomorrow!
Thank you Jeff for encouragement! I totally agree! What a great progress and love his tone!
Tomo
I usually forget to move or to sit up straight! On or the other. Luckily I remember to breathe.
I watch Kurt’s videos he moves really good when playing. Looks natural.
Here is the latest installment of my Chromatic Scale practice
Great job Scott! Nice and slow! Your fingering is so smooth. Slighly your left hand moved a little faster than your picking. You are doing so fine. All you need to do is to match both hands move same time. Almost there! Keep up with good work! I love your tone! So clean and super dry!
If you need any help (additional video) please let me know.
Tomo
Thank you, Tomo. Your encouragement makes me feel wonderful! I was off a bit. I will continue to work on that.
Fantastic playing and I love your beautiful efforts!
Easy to say "Play it slow" Real meaning is "It's not important about tempo"
Timing on both hands = much more important!
Tomo
Tomo, I am so excited! Your feedback makes my heart full! I sometimes wonder if I will ever play well, but you're right. Patience, humility, and hard work pays dividends. Thank you so much. I love our community.
My pleasure! I just made a video for "Counting" thread and I added a little bit "Chromatic Scale" ideas. So please watch it. I love this community so much! You are very special!
Tomo
Great compliment from Jeff himself who really changed "Thumb Position"
Tomo
Nice work, Scott! Your control (fingering and picking volume) is really developing. Be proud of yourself and stick with it!
Just posting my latest practice of Chromatics looking for any comments on things I might not be paying attention to that I should be. My amp is on 6 and my guitar is on 8. You can hear my wife walking around upstairs so I know I’m not playing too loud lol.
Fantastic playing and patience!
Thank you Rich! Great job! Very soft touch! I can hear noises in background! Sustain each notes really well!
Plesae keep going. As you go up, try to play as soft as you can.... so very end...almost no sounds. If you can, keep your fingers lightly on the frets until you finish 1234. And super relax your fingers.
Tomo
Thank you for your response.
I have trouble keeping all my fingers down on the first four frets but I’ve been trying.
My pleasure Rich! All the details can count toward improvement!
Great job on your consistency on foudation practice.
Tomo
It wasn't like watching paint dry! Good stuff.
Thank you Rich for sharing this video. I love this pace! Very good! I go very very slow. Picking position is really good. I would do much more softer after 2 patterns. And go softer and softer.
Please relax your body, your both hands as much as you can. It is very important.
Try to play softer from 3rd pattern and go softer and softer. You can hear many things that you didnot notice before. And slower when you are going down. Same way… the 3rd one, play softer then softer and softer so you can hear all noises in background.
Tomo
lol!
Well thank you for watching!
Thanks for the feedback.
I do feel like I’m starting out picking so softly that it’s hard to keep getting softer.
But I’ll try to make that a focus of my practice.
I amjyst wondering if amp volume on 6 and guitar volume on 8 is too loud?
Maybe amp volume should be lower?
My pleasure Rich! You can do it! Go for softer and softer... all of sudden you hear some background noise that you didn't notice before! Great challenge for me. Softer and softer after 2nd pattern.
Each amp is different (volume) My MMB is pretty loud at 2.5. My guitar is around 8-9. For chromatic, 8.5.
This part is super important, once you set your amp... no matter what guitar you use, DO NOT CHANGE YOUR AMP VOLUME! Certainly you can try your amp around 3-4.
Amp loudness is very similar to your own voice volume.
