A very cool and professional performance, Kurt. Thanks so much for sharing.
Love it Kurt! That was a real joy to listen to, thanks so much for sharing.
Okay, here we are after a few days of real practice on this, warts and all. Still working on this to smooth it out a bit, and there are sections that I need to get more in my ear, but happy with the progress so far.
And for my own self critique, I need to work on not hitting the pick guard with the pick! And I need to spend some time with this lesson:

Nicely done!
Thank you Matt for sharig this video. I love how you got that tone! So good! Great vibe! When you play that rhythm on the first round... don't mute too much by your right hand palm. Everything else is so good! Keep up with good work Matt!
Be kind to yourself! Be proud of yourself! More foundation you work, your playing will be smoother! That's why I practice chromatic scale & R 3 7 Swing Groove very slowly so that I can perform well.
Tomo
Thanks Tomo! I'm my own worst critic, lol. I appreciate the positive encouragement. The foundations are the foundation for a reason!
Whoa Matt - really good! And I love the warts and all.
Hey Matt, that is not bad.. All the parts are there and hey, it sounds good in spirit of the song. An inspiration indeed, I have to get on it!! You have it grooving to the happy blues for 2026!! Keep it rollin' Happy new year cheers :) - johno
Thank you Johno for encouragement! Yes! All the parts are there! And a great tone! Love that ending too!
Tomo
Went too off track but here is hideaway practice mostly from first inversion on strings 4 3 and 2, Tomo suggested this I think before. I tried best to do. The ‘hideaway’ chord is so great. Need to slow down pick much softer and work w metronome.. lots of fun excited for more practice and listening hideaway. Freddy king! Blues breakers and SRV! Have a good one.
Happy new year!
Happy new year Jeff!
Sounds so good, inspiring me to play, thank yoi!
Love the sound of that guitar too, 335, right? I get the models numbers mixed.
Thanks Jeff! That is such a cool way to play that. You and that guitar are awesome!
Kurt
Thanks Kurt means a lot!
Thank you Jeff for sharing your version! So good! Very smooth! Nice tone too! Before mixing a few different positions... you can learn more toward original Freddie King version. That E9 chord! Good job!
Tomo
Thanks Tomo! Will do on focusing on Freddie king version. E9! Thank you!
You too happy new year! Thanks a lot and for watching Sunil! Yes that’s a reissue of a 335. Same here there’s a lot. Freddie king I think used a 345. or 355?
Nice!
I just know one is smaller, one is larger, without the internet search. Sounds like there are many. Very cool!
Great performance Jeff, and played with such confidence. I love your version, and your tone is great too - just so inspiring! This thread just keeps getting better, I haven't tried Hideaway yet but I'm going to have to eventually. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you guys for watching.
Look at how Freddie king picks.
About 12 seconds in you can see it
Yes, Freddie King used a thumb pick and his fingers, banjo style.
Please keep going!
Tomo
Sounds fantastic Jeff!! Just catching up here. Sweet tone, and no noise with that Amp.. What.? .. Good job man. Love the 335, very cool. Happy New year. Keepn' it steady Freddy :)
- johno
Happy new year Johno. Thanks for watching. I’m posting here more on this one as I’m trying to learn the original version Freddie king. It’s fun to play and am trying to learn as much as I can as I go along.
Wow - great work Jeff! You even changed the tone to match!
Oh yeah! I love the way you play Freddie's great tune with that super-duper cool guitar.
Thanks, Jeff, for updating and inspiring us to keep working on this.
You are nailing it!
Kurt
Oh man, so good! Thank so much for posting. I’m amazed at how effortless that looks!
Good job Jeff! You have been practicing! Very smooth playing melody and fills. (Watch out your time around 5th, 6th bar!) Nice tone! Please keep going! The last part... great feel! Excellent!
Tomo
Whoa!That was really swinging Jeff.
Did you learn the entire song by ear?
That was an impressive performance!
Way to go 👏
Thank you guys a lot for the support here and watching. Thanks Tomo I appreciate you watching - I found it thanks!! Love this tune I really want to learn it. Will do!
YEAAAAAAAAHHH JEFF.
-LaVoy
My pleasure Jeff! I think your quality of performance & listening skill got much deeper! Great job! A few rests between a melody is so beautiful! Good job! Please keep going! PS, Your ES-335 tone is so good!
Tomo
Thank you so much for everything and encouragement Tomo! I’m very grateful! Will do!
Jeff
Thanks LaVoy!
Hey Jeff, you should be really proud of yourself. I really enjoyed both versions.
I have to say, what a joy it's been to see you develop as a player and musician. You know how Tomo says, "Eventually, everything gets smoother." I think you're well into that stage. Keep having fun!
Thank you Sammy for encouragement! I totally agree with you! What a pleasure to see someone's guitar journey! Jeff should be proud of himself!
Tomo
Thank you so much Sammi!! This means a lot that you think this and watched. It makes a difference sometimes you don’t notice much progress yourself when you’re focused looking and hearing for the areas to get better. Good to appreciate too. Thanks!
Jeff
