So it took me about 5 weeks to play "Here We Go Again" duet decently. Now I'm studying the rhythm lesson on pg17. I have a question about "hold" and note duration. I get that the bass note should sustain through the playing of the accompanying chord. But should the chord sustain? Tomo plays a little different for some measures. For most measures, the chord is also sustained. But, for example, measure 3 - the F chord - the chord is played as just a quarter note. So my question is, based on the notation, should the chord also hold / sustain, or just be a quarter note that isn't sustained?
I am looking at this page and only assuming I have skipped lesson material because the answer key for the first Cmaj chord says hold which makes no sense to me because every bar are quarter notes. Unless they are saying hold for the entire duration of 1 beat. I need to study this book more.

Good job Clay! You can take your time as much as you need. Basically hope that bass note and play other notes while you are holding that bass note. Both ways. 1) You can stop the chord by right hand palm mute 2) You can sustain the chord. So you can enjoy both. But written music.... you stop the chord by muting.
