I can make super slow version of this solo etude. Mean time you can listen that soloing part over and over. You can record "sound" to your phone and repeat 20-30 times or more! You want to hear those sounds in you!

Good job Scott! Learn chords, chord progression and practice until you know those chords. Think each note and function. Then learn that solo. Interval study is good!

Great job Scott! I do too! I write many ideas & things to do. I don't use computer for that matter. I like to use a pen and paper so I can go back that date and I understand how when what was happening in that month, week, day, time. My pleasure!

"CH" means "chromatic", as in chromatic chord tone, I think. Tomo starts talking about it around 6:30.

by the way, i was wondering how I knew this.

I realized lately, while practicing triads, I am using a lot of "one finger, one string" to find scale/chord tones (...i don't understand the difference of "scale tone" vs. "chord tone" here. Note to self to look it up :)) ...after I say intervals for each inversion.

Lately, I've been looking/listening for 7ths and flat 7ths and I am curious about what is around each triad, so I've been using "one finger, one string" to sound each interval. Then when I stick to saying note names, practicing
R 3 7 / R 7 3 Bb blues swing exercise...it is all some how coming together in my head.

I know I am learning.
But I never learned like this before.
Amazing, I feel just not sure where it comes from, and I feel very grateful.

let me be more clear about using "one finger, one string" during triads:

say for A on top 3 strings (thinnest):
root triad at second fret, use "one finger, on one string" to find after R (A) , then M2, M3. Then after M3 (C# on B string below A) find P4, P5, M6. Then, after M5 (open E) find M6, M7, and R1.

I guess its like the burger place song Tomo talks about in the triad section.

After the last live stream I've been messing around with major and minor triads, and playing scales tones around and just listening. Feels like jamming.

Sometimes I feel like Neo at the end of the first Matrix movie. I see peeks into how the fretboard is organized for each key.

I know there is a path to doing this now, just walking it.

Thank you, Tomo. I really want to understand all of this very well. I have learned the progression, but it is not clean yet, and nowhere near correct yet. I always have to work on the timing of chord transitions from one to the next. Bb7 to Eb7 to Bb7 to F-7, etc. In addition, I have got the notes down for the solo, but I am working on proper phrasing, no metronome yet.

I have little to no experience looping the rhythm chords to play the solo phrases over the correct chords. I have a DITTO looper. I have struggled with timing in the past. Do you have any instructions on learning how to do this?

Hey Scott - I struggled with that too. It definitely takes practice. Biggest thing for me was to actually count the rhythm on your last measure. You hit "stop" on the final "and" of the measure. I would always hit stop on the 4 or the next 1, which messes it up. So 1and2and3and4stop. Cool thing is this also gives you practice counting out rhythm.

Do you also do the spider walk chromatic exercise. It is sort of hard to explain over text if not. I am sure Tomo has a video of it somewhere. It is tricky to do it but very helpful it seems. If you look up spider walk guitar exercise I am sure you can find a video on YouTube.

Thank you Tomo. I am trying to find the correct pressure between too much and not enough (and getting buzz noise on the string). I will keep going. Loud Amp - Less Bass - More Treble - NO REVERB. LOL. Thank you. I will keep going. I see my improvement already.

You're very welcome Scott! It is very difficult to control using less pressure! That's why I practice with my Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp and no reverb! These combination will give me very specific result. My amp setting is slighly loud so that I can not play anything easily. Very specific setting. I would suggest to practice more chromatic exercise and R 3 7 Swing Groove (Everyday even 3-5 minutes each)
