Let’s learn C Major Scale on One String!
It’s One String One Finger Approach.

3 things to think when you are practcing C Major scale. (Whole step and half step)
1) Name of Notes: C D E..
2) Intervals: Root M2 M3…
3) Singing sound: Do Re Mi

Now you know those distances as pitches.,
So you can play those notes without looking at the fretboard.

You can try 3 types.
1) Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do
2) Do Re Mi Do, Re Mi Fa Re…
3) Do Mi Re Fa…. (In 3rds)

Tomo-san, thank you for recommending this lesson.
I’ve watched it many times before, but this time I discovered something new.

When looking at the intervals of thirds, I realized that the intervals of the ii, iii, vi, and vii are all minor thirds! I see—so that’s how it works.
So that’s what “短3度” means in Japanese! (“短” means short.)

I also really understand now how important it is to review.

I can't advocate more, especially to my fellow beginners: watch at least 2 - 3 times for this lesson, even though we think we understood the concepts.

E.g. We need to really understand major and minor thirds (the distance), and load this into the exercises (and much more). These will enable us to unlock the fretboard as fast as possible (but it looks slow and painful when we think and practise).

Also, think why we do an exercise from or related to the video before we start. Have a (small) purpose, and we can go a long way.

Thanks Tomo! While I’ve watched before I think I breezed through it more than I realized. Highlights for me are review more and also on singing part to really feel the notes.
