Hey I just wanted drop a quick note about this book. I think it’s really great - like a deeper dive into foundation that is a great supplement to the GW videos. I’ve learned a lot from this. Since it is electronic, I can easily highlight key parts of interest (or revelations about music in my case). Anyway, I think this book is a great reference. It explains the foundation concepts clearly and the videos associated with the concepts are very short and focused on one concept - so you can go right to practice with one thing in mind.

Yeah I think I might need to get it later, but I'm unsure whether I should get the earlier Chinese translated version or this English version. I wonder if there's any edit on the latest book.

Hugo - Great question.
For a bit of context, the original book was published in 2010. When it was first translated from Japanese to English, it didn’t fully capture Tomo’s voice or teaching style.
The current English version has been carefully edited and adapted to better reflect how Tomo teaches today. The core material and overall organization are largely the same, but the language is clearer, more natural, and more aligned with his present-day approach. It also includes video demonstrations, which add a lot to the learning experience.
So if you’re deciding between versions, the updated English edition is the one that best represents Tomo’s teaching as you experience it now.

I got the Kindle version! The initial review is that it contains many details and they are consistent with Tomo's philosophy throughout the videos on this platform.

At least 1/3 of the ebook is connected with the three topics we will work on once we joined GW: How to setup amps (for single note and rhythm guitar practice), strumming and grooving (R 3 7), Triads, C Major scale (and one string one finger approach). They complement well with each other. Sometimes, the devil lies in the TEXT of the book instead of the accompanying videos. Who would have guessed?

Lovely. These combined are as if having private lessons with Tomo. I'll master all these in time, knowing all the "stuff" I should know "before attending Berklee" (Tomo's funny Youtube video title).

Good man. I knew you would like it. I agree with you on the text - definitive approach. I also like the short video that focus on just the one thing. You can take them right to the guitar without summarizing them. Then go to GW (and the forums) for other cross referencing. You can also print out parts (like the counting/knee pat exercise or the chords - 1 & 2 &...) and put them in a 3 ring binder for reference.

I have the apple book. You could probably print and excerpt, but not the whole thing. There are copyright rules about that. I printed basically the pictures of a couple of exercises. I think you can add your notes electronically in the kindle ap though.

Hugo, in the Kindle ap you can highlight sections of the text you are interested in. Then there is a little notebook icon that you can click on and see all your highlights - then click on add notes - you can type in your thoughts there. They are very easy access too.

I'm working through the book again. It puts you on a wonderful path. We all want to do the super cool flashy stuff, but to do that, you have to get the basics down and get your hands in shape. It doesn't matter how fast you can move your fingers if you don't know where to put them. :-)

Guitar Wisdom book is all electric copy and nice to carry electrically. Super cool to feel like am living the book details. I have been taking my slow pace, walk, don't run with this opportunity. Truly amazing all these resources to reflect on. I am 67% done, very intellectual concepts on guitar with images of triads flow. About to start chapter 6 after a while here. Most excellent book.
