Not really :) After mindlessly learning scales on and off for years, I'm enjoying taking my time understanding the fretboard by learning triads through Guitar Wisdom, but I'm curious what other people do to practice say some gentle dexterity exercises to assist with lead playing, thanks!
Thank you Anil for your kind words on Guitar Wisdom.
How about fast apply triad inversions over chord progression and you can do as "triads" or "arpeggios.
Can you play C triad inversions and F triad inversions? (For instance, play all C triad inversions then all F triad inversions on 123 set strings) You can do 4 different patterns. All go up, all go down, go up & down or go down & up)

Yeah appregios are pretty insane for shredders. They appear a lot. I guess you can also try breaking down 7 chords and practise. It's way out of my league but I know some Youtubers do it. It will be great to apply Tomo's teaching (knowing all notes) instead of just using the shapes.

Thank you Tomo, I’m trying to smoothly play C, G and F Major Triad inversions on all strings horizontally as arpeggios, I’ll continue doing that and Matt’s ideas for playing some melodies to help put those triads into context sounds like a good idea too!
Did the same thing spent 3 or 4 years on scales, triads, inversions, and memorizing the fretboard, Even fell asleep so many nights visualizing a scale in my head. (good sleeping pill by the way lol).
Lately because of a tip Tomo gave me after seeing a video of me playing he asked me, "What sound are you trying to achieve?" I had no answer lol, but that was a wakeup call. Thank you Tomo.
I've been working on learning styles and that has driven me to go faster and its way more enjoyable than what I was doing.
Last few weeks, I've been looking at Dickey Betts from the Allman Brothers as I really love how he created so many memorable sounds in major keys. Following his approach with the foundation Tomo teaches us, is increasing my speed as I am learning what I can go for through Guitar Wisdom.
Thank you Cruz! First I tried not to memorize anything! I tried to be familiar those sounds with intervals then I did a little of organaization on the fretboard with triads, arpeggios with a few different fingerings so that I don't rely on one or two shapes. So above all... I have a few choices on any items. No magic! Pure hard work and cosistancy with no fast expectations.
I think you want to look for your TONE so that you can look for certain tone from certain positions. And you start to hear your left hand TONE (how relaxed your left fingers....) More fun!
I love Blues and Jazz very much. Simple blues and simple jazz. There are many styles in each styles so I go for simple side so I can handle it in my lifetime (hopefully)
I love the Allman Brothers! Very special sounds! I think that is a great goal "Play like Dickey Betts without memorizing shapes! " How many ways to play Major Scale and Major Pentatonic without that Verticle Box Shape.
