Hi guys. I'm dying for some help. I've heard you all talk about this but I'm missing a tiny detail. When doing any A shape bar chord my pinky is hiding behind the neck and when I go to the seven chord I'm having trouble getting there and barring it. I should be able do this by now. Any suggestions I'll take thanks guys.
Hey Serena - one bad habit I have is stretching my thumb out behind the neck. I've been focusing on keeping it more directly behind my first finger - this has helped with muting and eliminating string noise when I do chromatic practice. It also makes difficult chord voicings easier because I am not stretching my hand out as much. Hope that helps.
I hope I understand your question :). I try to use the closest inversion, in this case would be A form of the 7th, one fret down. That approach would not require changing my pinky location. If going up one inversion, G shape, with the 3rd in the Bass, not used that often, yea then it does require covering two strings with the pinky a little harder to play at pace for me. If I want a higher pitch sound I might go to the E form.
