Dear fellow students and Mr. Fujita,
I was recently watching a video about guitar health and how prolonged playing can cause injuries especially in the fretting hand if your wrist is at 90 degrees. This is why I hold my guitar a bit higher so I dont have to bend my wrist.
In the video it also mentions the thumb technique behind the fretboard to help and not push very hard on the fretboard. One advice this person gives is to use your elbow closer to your body and use gravity to pull your elbow which will help take the pressure away from your thumb and hand.
what do you think about this Mr. Fujita?
Nalin as an older player who's played virtually all my life, this is an important topic for me as well as I want to play guitar all my life. :). I'm very conscious of what Tomo mentioned light touch. In addition I always use light or super light strings and low action. For me I can't do a lot of repetitive chromatic practice as I noticed it doesn't work well for me. Finally, while I play live on acoustic I dont spend a lot of practice time on acoustic unless it calls for it.
So far no pain :). All the best
