Just curious if anyone else experiences this. I seem to play at a level for a long while, and then boom! Every once in a while, everything clicks. I can hear music better — tone and rhythm all start sounding at a new level. Had that today, where all of a sudden my ear started hitting and I could fly.
Then, like in the past, it leveled off with only marginal improvement retained. I was thinking I wish I'd done some more GW courses so I could take it further. :)
I’ve felt a very similar pattern before. After committing to learning for a while, there are moments where suddenly I can hear things more clearly, or my touch becomes lighter and more controlled. But then it drops back down a bit.
Most of the time I just keep practicing until I lose concentration. Sometimes I don’t feel very confident, so I stick to my daily practice. Other times I feel curious and want to go further, so I open a new lesson and explore more.
I’m starting to think this cycle is just part of the process.

Yes! When I am getting a great tone and if I prepared something really good then I may have "Zone in" with a great amp/guitar tone and feeling (blues... funk)

Yeah guys, I like the 'zone in' effect then it sinks in. Fine tuned guitars and tone-up amps REALLY does help. It takes time to get things fluent and more natural. I agree with what you said Tobi, all kinds of lessons. I think mostly it is paying attention, record, paper notes, ect. I will leave some concept untouched for a while then circle back. It seems technique is forever improving with refinement. Ear training and listening have been the improvements as of recent. Regular practice routine has been the goto and that might be all I get in a day. Do you guys try to play along with the radio vibe? Be like the extra guitar track? It is for fun and seems to bring up a new direction using applied concepts. I do that when I need to expand out of focus remembering technique, theory, triads, progression, one string, and chromatics. It is a process, and yes Cruz, it is like 'BAM - 'ZAP' a new realization and enlightenment. Gonna check it out right now. Start with a quick practice and see where that goes.

cool insight. Yes do play along a lot. One thing I've noticed recently slowly starting to find the next note with only the thought of the tone I want without having to think about what scale or theory that supports it.
I might be starting to get intervals purely by tone, kinda of :)
I like that idea Cruz. Sounds like a perfect or relative perfect pitch finding. Tones by interval, for me first I needed to know what intervals have certain color pitch, still check it by pluck string, listen tone, verify name of note and how it fits into the key. Etude motiefs.. Kind of push the sound around without a sour note. Good stuff and great to hear about your progress, keep it rollin'

New here, so hello to everyone!
I have played for years, also played on big stages, but I am that type of guitarist that never studied a lot: okay music theory, but when I was an adolescent I never took technique, timing, and ear training seriously. After a stop, I started studying in a better way three years ago, at 28 years old, and I’ve experienced what you say.
For me, the equation is like that: the more time you spend with the instrument (better if for practice), the more you’ll encounter that “powerful days”.
