Wanted to post a monthly update of where I’m at practicing Chromatics.
I know the synchronization between my picking and fretting was off on a few notes but I just plowed ahead.
My main focus was getting quieter after every three frets.
LMK what you think.

Thanks for the insightful video, Rich! No noise, soft picking, relaxed fingering, and playing without looking—it’s fantastic! Changing the volume every three frets is an interesting idea. I’ll give it a try too! Thanks.

Awesome Rich!
Great thread. I was just thinking of splitting the fretboard into thirds to handle dynamics. It is not easy! Volume sounded like it decreased smoothly to me, excellent.

Appreciate the update, Rich! I can tell you've been practicing :) What stood out to me most was the sense of control and patience in your practice. You looked really present with what you were doing rather than just trying to get through the exercise.

I also think it's worth acknowledging that you've been showing up and doing this work consistently for a long time. Technique aside, you've built discipline and confidence. The careful attention to detail shines through your work.

Good stuff Rich!! I can tell you are more connected with the guitar at this pace of the exercise. I dig it slow like that, groove full body swing in motion. The pick and synchronization is better for sure plus dynamics. When I change up the guitar it is a whole different energy for me per instrument. I really like this exercise and the straight chromatics too. Quite the practice stage going on the background, :) love it!!

Thanks Johno - I used to play in an ‘80’s pop cover band and we used to practice in my basement all the time. We quit years ago but the stuff is still in my basement lol.

Nice, band practice is usually where the drum kit is. Hang on to it for sure, it is probably a good thing to have around. My five piece is in my nephew's possession and my niece plays guitar and bass. I miss that popcorn popping snare the most. They are both learning. Good times!! Cheers,

Great job Rich! You should go softer at 3rd time.... and you can go a little faster too.
Once you go softer, keep going softer. Great try!

Keep going! I practice this everyday and I go softer and lighter touch (fretted hand) too.
