I can play volume 1 and some etude in 2 or 3, but I don't know how to dictate these rhythm in funk genre or style.

Thank you sharing. Funk is all about groove. So make sure that you can tap 16th accent anywhere.

So you asked about rhythm. Practice tapping in order to control your accent on 16th notes.

Other part is left hand muting and right hand strumming.
You need to practice a lot of R 3 7 Swing groove. I teach this to all my private lesson students before funk rhythm guitar.

I think it is very little video course or demonstration about or on Leavitt's book, especially volume 2 and 3. You have said that don't use dvd(cd) include with the book, it will give you dependence ( I think your meaning is this), so just by playing.
So why no volume 2 and 3? Is chord etude 1 in volume 1 the hardest song? I can play solo in G and solo in Bb (they both are in volome 2 and 3) and now I think etude 1 in volume 1 is hard than these two in fingerings...
Is this reason (dependence)? I think when people can play inversion they will self taught volume 2, so and but volume 1 is more difficult for begenners right? Videos for volume 1 is necessary and for follows are not ?
