Day 7 Complete!
Breathe. Close my eyes. Don’t think. FEEL. LISTEN.
Best,
Erik
Great!
Thank you!
Tomo
Felt a little rushed on the way down tonight will try and slow down the pace tomorrow. All around feeling the confidence slightly growing which is really nice
That case, try much slower, sustain 2-3 seconds or more on each note.
During sustain note, try to relax your left finger and thumb position,
Super light touch!
This exercise is the best to grow your confidence!
Thank you.
Tomo
I started joining 2 weeks later after finishing the business trip. Just like any simple, one and one thing only practice suggested by Tomo, I couldn't believe how much I've learned just by focusing on this for 10 mins a day.
One extra thing I started was to film myself playing since the day 3, following the advice given in Learning with Guitar Wisdom. I had done that before but gave up at some points since I stressed myself out by wanting everything to be perfect when I simply couldn't. This time I simply recorded myself playing in one run after practicing everyday without worrying a thing. I felt some mental burden I had subconsciously accumulated were released.
This is the recording on day 3:

This is the recording on day 7:
It isn't obvious in the recording, but I felt so much different while playing. Both my hands are more relaxed, my posture is better, the practice itself is intended to have no pace but somehow it has improved my rhythm. I feel I still have so much work to do, but it's time to move on to the week 2 topic. Can't wait to see what's there waiting for me to explore :)
For what it worths, here are some notes I took along the week:
1. I couldn't feel my left hand after 10 min of playing. I was surprised by how much tense I had put into playing.
2. The hand tense issue felt better, but I started noticing my posture was skewed. That's probably why my right shoulder was in pain after playing for a while?
3. The 4 fret & 5 fret was particularly hard to play cleanly.
4. Noticed that I didn't fret in a balanced way, like 70% on 1&2 fingers, 30% on 3&4. Need to focus more on the balance.
5. I actually held the pick too tight. That's probably how the volume wasn't stable.
Thank you for joining in!
Please don't be prefect!
That's not a point! Important part is Don't worry! Don't compare! Don't expect too fast! Be Kind to yourself!
Your case, you need to do join from 1st week! You cannot skip anything!
1) 1st week, you only do practice chromatic scale from 1st fret to 5th fret with super slow for 7 days.
No hurry!, So slow! No noise from finger or string. Make sure that keep your lefthand thumb position around center or slower!
Good posture! Relax! Less pressure from left hand. You can read all comments from other GW subscribers.\
Should not have any pain. If you have any pain, then you need to stop and do it from beginning and slower!
Hope a pick so soft as if you almost drop it!
This exercise is known "Easy" but it's so hard to do it well.
Thank you.
Tomo
