Day 2 complete!
Today I worked on keeping relaxed left-hand pressure. I noticed that when I did this my playing was a lot smoother.
I also worked on keeping my thumb position in the middle of the neck
Thank you so much!
Good job!
Thank you!
Tomo
Hi Tomo,
I joined your Guitar Wisdom a couple of months ago, and I’m really enjoying it. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail are inspirational. I’ve taken on this challenge and just completed day 2. In my 60th year and just starting my guitar journey I look forward to this challenge and many more.
Cheers

Day 1 & 2 Complete!
My first day was spent mostly on posture and being with the instrument…second with starting the exercise and paying close attention to tension. So much wisdom in the video, I’ve watched it many times over and will continue to. Thank you for this challenge Tomo!
Best,
Erik
Good job Erik!
Having a good posture & less pressure... will help your performance later.
You're very welcome!
Thank you.
Tomo

Today i pay attention to tension on left hand + fingernoise. so many details here in this lesson. very good.
I have a question.
Should this challange be the first thing i do when i pick up the guitar ? without warming up ?
Thank you !
Thank you Howard!
Good job on those important areas. No noise! Slower is better!
Anytime! I would do this very first thing. Don't worry!
Thank you.
Tomo
Day 2 - attention to pick half way out, thumb position center smooth flow. Light touch with finger in fret center. Tried this watching my hand and then not looking, only listening. Good stuff!!
Thank you John!
Thumb position! Super important!
Light touch!
Thank you.
Tomo
Have a great day Tomo! *smiles* John
You too!
Thank you John!
Thumb position! Super important!
Light touch!
Thank you.

Day 2 observations:
• Still so hard to not rush, especially w/o metronome, so use foot tapping. Involve the physical.
• Yes, it's almost meditative...mindful of each note.
• As you mention...."Then you become very patient person".
• Seems I fight "finger noise" more when I lift finger from string rather than any "sliding". Get clean pull-off!
Thanks so much.
Good job Linda!
Super slow is not easy! No noise! Relax, less pressure! That's why this challenge will help all your playing!
I am a super patient person! Chromatic scale exercise really helped me!
Very difficult on noise issue. Move your finger straight from the string. If your finger moves slightly side way then you will hear a slight noise! No noise! Try slower again! See you will become more patient!
You're very welcome!
Thank you.
Tomo
I'm starting a little late. First day I did the challenge today.
I have to remember to focus on less pressure with my left hand for tomorrow.
I can tell I'm pressing way too hard. It's easier to notice that when going slow.
This is a good challenge. I like it. It's going to make me a better guitar player.
Good job! Noticing things ... great!
Thank you!
Tomo
Completed my 2nd day of the challenge. This time I was able to focus on less pressure with my fretting hand but now I noticed I'm holding my breath. So tomorrow I will focus on breathing normally while playing.
Good job!
Breathe naturally... while you are practicing.
Great plan!
Thank you.
Tomo
Thank you Tomo! Day 3 complete. Today my breathing was good, left hand pressure getting better. I want to play slower tomorrow and focus on shifting between notes better so that it sound more fluid with less break when I'm moving my hand over.
You're very welcome!
Good job!
Slower is good!
Great plan!
Thank you.
Tomo
Day 2 complete. Tomo: did you want us to check in each day for the sake of accountability, or just if we have questions during the challenge? Thank you!
Great!
No need to do anything here. But you can just come in say... you done ... then that's awesome!
Everything is on my example video.
Thank you!
Tomo
Week 1:Day 2
I went much slower today. I focused on sustaining my notes, avoiding making any noise, and thumb position. As Lisa noted above, the practice session became "meditative" because of the long, sustaining notes and moving of my fingers like a herd of turtles. It seems I am fortunate that my thumb position is where it should be during the entire exercise (take your victories where you find them). A lighter touch will be my next challenge.
Good job! Slower is better!
My practice time is like meditation! Calm way down!
Be a turtle is so great!
Thank you.
Tomo
Very cool how different today felt vs yesterday. Still meditative and zen, but my focus was completely (and naturally) different. Today I did the exercise with my eyes closed only focused on the sound of the notes and the feel of the string on each finger. This exercise makes me so calm and happy. Thank you, Tomo!
So awesome to hear that! Great! Good job! Focus deeper!
You're very welcome! It's really working!
Thank you.
Tomo
This comment Daniel for me aged well. I didn’t notice the meditative part much at all until recently. Theres definitely something happening with hanging on longer and staying locked in focus wise. It’s not always there yet but have noticed improved focus sometimes. Think it’s from sequentially doing this that is opening up space
Day 2 and this time I will focus on thumb position on the back of the neck and posture. This exercise is more challenging than I first imagined especially since I have bad habits when both techniques. perfect exercise to help correct these issues.
So great to hear that! Good job! Good exercise is working so it's not easy.... if this is just movement, repetitive thing ..then easy!
Thank you!
Tomo
Todays exercise I focused on palm muting 5th and 6th string and holding that fourth note longer. Holding all four fingers down at the end of each run really gets the fore arm burning. I can tell this way I’m using more muscles in my arm to fret notes which helps to relax my hand. I’m also getting a little better at shifting to the next fret by going slow and holding that last note before the shift.
Good job!
Very important parts.
Relax your body.
Keep your guitar higher so your left hand is not holing the neck.
It takes time. Please take your time and try something slightly different,
Thumb position is always moving.
Around center of back of the neck but my thumb goes slightly lower.
Thank you,
Tomo
Please make sure that each note, sustain longer... 2-3 seconds each.
Thumb position is always moving.
Thanks for reminding me! I noticed this more on day two and today I paid closer attention and started to move the thumb more comfortably.
I’m trying hard to keep my thumb at the center of the neck and this is still very challenging for me. Today I had to keep reminding myself to palm mute strings 5 and 6 but shifting started to feel more natural.
I tried to keep string noise down today and had to play even slower to make less noise.
Still to noisy though.
Day2 Thank you so much! so good! I have often struggled in my playing with bad habit of "leaving thumb behind" on way up the neck. This is such a good mindful cure! but not easy, I must be patient!
You're very welcome! Great challenge and good job!
So happy to hear your progress!
Thank you.
Tomo
