Went slower this time. Curious to know how far and when you’re all sliding your thumb when descending

Week 2:Day 2

Went better than expected. I am taking the full 10 minutes to ascend and descend up to the 12th fret and back again to burn this exercise into my muscle memory.

Week 2 day 2 Slowly! Working today on posture ( sorting out pelvic tilt, making big difference to comfort)
Concentrating on clean notes, the ring finger lift off is main offender, checking thumb position is helping.
So much value in this challenge! Thank you so much!

Day 10 - very calm ten minute session. Thinking about all the things while descending the fret board. I’ve had these chromatic exercises in my routine thanks to your other YouTube videos on the subject, but have always known I needed help with my descending technique. I’m so grateful for your video here in the forum last Friday, Tomo, where you slowly demonstrated the descending technique. I’ve been carefully applying what you’ve demonstrated and have been working to apply it. I see it paying off in this challenge and have real hope knowing my technique is improving.

Try to straighten my fingers.Especially the index finger in a relaxed state.

Day 10 | Week 2
During today's practice, I will focus on:
+ palm muting
+ placing thumb near center of neck, limiting to one horizontal motion every 4 notes

Day 9 - 10 min practice, at about a minute to minute 20secs each run. Watching hand shift that varies with neck position. Practicing on hitting string at the same time I drop my pinky to fret, all while shifting smoothly - clean sound. Fender squire. - jf

Day 10 Complete!

Very meditative practice today. Heightened awareness on left hand pressure as I found myself fluctuating between being very relaxed and using more of the weight of my arm to fret with little pressure and carrying more tension and almost pinching the notes between my finger and thumb. Such a beautiful thing to explore…if only I could now learn to control the states better.

Week2, day 10
Notes:
• To force myself to go slowly, I’ve been letting the note completely decay before sounding the next note. Seems to be working!
• I also watched the extra video on the chromatic scale exercise. “No noise! No pick sound! Every day you are improving”. Thanks for posting that. I will watch it some more.

Day 10 is complete. While descending I noticed string buzz when hand pressure was too light. Moving the body helps with cadence and improves string buzz when leaving the pitch for the next lower pitch. Lots to track. Going slow help everything!

Week 2:Day 3

Very pleased with my progress today. Finally, started mastering palm muting, but still a lot of work to do. Spent 10 minutes ascending and descending to and from the 12th fret, going extremely slow. I am not sure my thumb is as smooth and coordinated as it should be as I move. I will have to focus on that tomorrow.

Today was about working on playing smooth with no unwanted noise and thinking about the name of each note

Week 2 day 3 notes:

Worked on re positioning after the 4th note. I found it harder to start on the pinky when descending, so I was working on that

I also worked on making sure my thumb was in the right position. I have such a bad habit of wrapping it around the top of the neck. So I was making sure to keep it in the middle of the neck

Today I continued to focus on no string noise and posture.
My acoustic still seems to tell me the most of where I need to work so focussing on that for now (with the occasional electric treat)
