Day 13 complete. Long day traveling, but managed to practice in hotel before going to the airport.
Good job!
Thank you.
Tomo
Finished day 13!
Today I worked on reducing my left hand pressure while playing the scale. I was wondering though what using less pressure actually does to the sound?
I also worked on no finger noise! This was a struggle but something I keep working on and am slowly improving
Thank you
Good job!
I try to use less pressure everyday!
Great tone with less pressure!
It will take sometime to understand this.
Plus less pressure = fast move!
No noise! Turn more treble and less bass!
Good job.

Day 13 Complete!
Still battling a bit of tension in my shoulder and neck trying not to overthink every movement and simply feel and listen. I’m curious how the thumb should be moving down the neck and whether it is a lift or more of a slide? Also, do you let the move happen organically as it needs or is it synchronized with the left hand micro-shift? I feel a bit the the centipede focusing on one of his legs….
Best,
Erik
Good job!
Drop your shoulder and relax your body. Not easy!
Thumb position. Very hard to describe lifting up lightly so that not sliding.
Thumb is always moving. If I have a chance, I will make a video.
This part should not understand by words! Not that easy!
Thank you.
Tomo
This is extremely helpful Tomo! I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video. If a picture is worth a thousand words this video is worth at least ten thousand….very grateful.
Great! I am so happy to hear that!
Like this, should not understand by the words! Very dangerous!
That's why guitar books no good!
Thank you.
Tomo
Fourteenth day! Keep feeling relax! Today I noticed something I hadn't noticed before:
This is about both hands coordination. In the sustain of the last sound to the next sound ,I will have several situations:
·when the finger touches the string ahead of the pick, it silences the string while producing noise ,creating an interval.
·when the pick touches the string before the fingers ,and I want to be careful to prevent the noise of the pick, it will slowly touch the pick to the string , and then create a silent interval.
This is about palm muting :
·My muting hand always changing posture, it lead to my palms to move, and also causes the sound to fail to sustain , producing noise. Therefore ,when I watch the video again, I will pay attention to the muting position of the Tomo’s right hand and the state of the right hand.
Good job!
Great to hear that.
Timing is very difficult.
Please watch the video more .
Thank you.

Day 14 Complete!
Today I found myself focused on string noise. I worked on the coordination between hands in an effort to eliminate noise from my pick and from my fingers when removing them from the string. I’m not sure if it was my intense focus on this aspect that left me hearing it throughout the entire practice session, or just my inability to eliminate it, but it will be a continued focus.
Best,
Erik
Good job!
It's very hard!
No noise.
Palm muting.
I will post a video for you.
Thank you.
Tomo
Thank you again Sensei! So grateful for this Wisdom. I must remember Be kind to yourself, Don’t expect too fast!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for asking that good question!
Here we go!

Week 2, day 14
Notes:
• A side benefit these past two weeks has been this practice of keeping notes. As I look back at my scribbles over the past two weeks, I feel like I have at least made some progress. It has helped me to recall all that I’ve learned and not feel like I’m spinning wheels.
Good job!
Thanks for sharing.
This exercise is so good!
Thank you.
Tomo
Day 14 complete, working on palm muting with my awkward picking technique. I’ve tried several times over the years to switch over to a more conventional picking approach but I always fall back into my habit. Then I look at players like Cecil Alexander and Adam Rogers and think that maybe I should just leave it alone…..anyways my rant is really about trying to palm mute with my backwards picking approach….I trod on looking forward to week 3. Thanks Mr. Fujita.
Day 14 Today I mostly just listened deeply to the notes, went so slow, waited, then played the next. I must say: "it was peaceful". Even with some misses. Thank you.
Good job!
Those picking technique can work for only handful of people!
Don't expect too fast To change "technique" normally will take about 1 to 3 months.
I did!
Thank you.

Week 2|Day 7
Tomo: Thank you for the video you just posted. Very instructive. You are right. It is easier to show how to do it, than to write how to do it.
Michael Kimber
Good job!
You're very welcome!
Words can twist & overthinking a lot!
This way, you know it or you don't!
That's why you don't want to read some facts in internet!
Thank you.

Day14 | Week 2
Posture and pick pressure today, feeling that pick nice and loose, surprising increase in tonal quality :)
Thank you.
Good job!
I practice my chromatic scale with super slow tempo and use less pressure
Picking dynamics for 7 minutes this morning. I am super careful not go over 10 minutes.
Great to hear that.
Normally you can improve after two weeks.
So I do things without any expectation (2 weeks)
Thank you.
Too
Day 14 - Shifting thumb first, picking strings simultaneously to each note. Light pressure holding posture. Closed week 2 with Eb descending down to second inversion - top 3 strings. *smiles*
Good job!
Thank you.
Tomo
And this Chromatic scale with no noise & Palm muting
