Normal picking can be slightly softer (You can turn up your amp slightly)

Pace is a little bit fast. You can go slower!
Notes could be longer. A little pause between notes.
This part is super important for this exercise.
It's not easy! You sustain the note then you pick next note without stopping previous note.

I could of done better but since you said the best isn't the most important I just thought a one off would be the most authentic. And of course recording myself I am always so nervous and self conscious. I guess that's another reason for the one off. :)

Hi Tomo,

I actually did it a bit faster as I looked at the recording time and remembered how you wanted shorter videos. I was worried if I made it longer you'd ask for me to resubmit and this week isn't great for me which is why I posted so early. I tend to worry about all those things for some reason. Sigh!

Btw I really appreciate your words calling my journey beautiful. I rarely see it that way. You words are appreciated more than you know. Thanks! Made my day!

P.S. I would have used an electric for the challenge but I don't have an amp at the moment... I usually play through an an amp sim on my computer and use headphones when practicing so I don't bother my wife and neighbors. Using my acoustic was a fun challenge! There was so much more finger noise at the beginning of November 😂

Body movement is very natural and good.
Palm muting is very smooth. You can play a little slower so you can control tour fingers not move too far.
Picking is good. Dynamics was so nice!

Overall your tone is a little muddy (warm)
For this exercise, could be a little brighter. Don't use two pickups! Only front or only rear is better.
Pace is good! You should not look at your fingers!
Once you can play this pattern... no need to watch the fretboard. Well done!

Thank you very much professor for your feedback i was convinced myself to play only once because I play chromatic scale for sometime now everyday and i was maybe extra carefully to don't make any finger mistake! so i really didn't want to make noise! Unfortunately i hear that the machine that I have that gives flowing water to my cat is very noisy sorry about that! 😅 My fingers has become so much better from this simple exercise. Thank you for everything 🙏

Those are good natural background noise that you can hear those more when you are using dynamics as very soft!

Good job Ken! Your each note has a nice full duration and keep it very slow which is very hard to do.
I love your tone very much! Super dry and very bright so you just can hide anything. You could use less picking movement.
For 2nd run with dynamics... a little over thinking? You can do more gradual on 1234 sequence.
Very difficult to do a steady dynamics. I love it! You know this is very hard to do! Well done!

Don't worry about little thing at all! This exercise is very important to understand that simple thing is not that easy! and this will bring (apply) into other topics. Thanks so much for your kind on our forum. I totally agree! This place is super special!

Thank you, Tomo for your encouragement and your comments. I think on the second part with dynamics I was just a bit preoccupied. It was getting rather late in the day on Sunday and surgery was the next day so I wasn’t as focused as I should’ve been. But to your point about how this simple exercise has already helped me, I noticed in some chord melody songs that I’ve been playing for a few years, a real improvement and ease coming in. I totally did not expect this, and was so happy when it happened! Can’t wait to get back! Thanks for everything, Ken.

Your tone is great! Dry and bring so you can hear everything. Your body motion ... feeling as a half note. Each note is two beats?
That's okay to feel that. But I want you to feel as each beat as one big 1/4 note. Your fingering movement is so good! Very smooth.
Your strap length is great too. Dynamics control is very hard! Good job going softer, Gradually you can do control that.
Try to play a little slower and focus on timing when you change note to note. This part is very hard to control naturally. Well done!

I like how you said there were a couple of ‘Be kind to yourself’ moments in there.
I struggle with all of Tomo’s precepts at times.
I always feel like I should be further along than I am (expect too fast)
I feel like I’m never going to be as good as I want to be (worry)
I beat myself up when I make mistakes (unkind to myself)
When I see / hear great players I almost get discouraged instead of inspired (always comparing)
But this community has really been great and supportive.
I hope we all take our guitar journey as far as we would all like to go.
People will really be talking about how great Guitar Wisdom is.

Each note sustain full value. Body motion is really good!
Over all you are using less pressure & relaxed well.
For dynamics, if it's possible you should keep same softness on 1234 notes as one unit, then go softer for another ...

Very nice tone you got! Very relaxed and feel good!
You can play a little bit slower so that you can control your fingering.
When you place your first finger (Going up) you need to spread your other fingers right above those (next) frets.
Then you can sustain each note much easier. Good job! Well done!
