Side note: Tomo, you suggested moving my hand closer to the neck / bridge pickup. Doing so has alleviated pain in my shoulder. I had just put it down to arthritis or something, but the result is a less-cramped posture in my shoulder. Interesting how little things are connected, but it's a big deal for me. Thanks for the heads-up.
Yes,Linda ,I have the same feel, Before this challenge process, when I carry the guitar for a little bit time, I can feel my collarbone and shoulder pain. But Tomo aways say Posture is importance, Elbow and body is important, shoulder relax is important too, My posture is changing! Pain is gone! Thank you Tomo:)
Hi Jiayang. Yes, it seems the elbow might be the key. Moving my hand towards soundhole pulls the elbow onto the front of the guitar instead of behind the guitar. Now, my arm and shoulder are not cramped and the pain is gone. I don't know why I couldn't see this for myself, but posting the video was obviously a benefit!. I am so relieved, the pain would wake me up at night. I am glad you found some relief.
Hope the pain stays aways from Linda,
Wish the key elbow posture goes smoothly.
Hi Linda, playing with a relaxed and confident posture(shoulders, hands) really is the key. Helps a lot getting the desired reach as well. So whatever helps in that regard and helps us enjoy the instrument.
For instance, I remember when I started this challenge, I faced tense shoulders and hands in order to get the desired reach. However, once I began from the 3rd fret, that disappeared. Today, I can start the ascending line from 2nd fret freely.
I am doing something similar for the descending line as well. You may check my new video under the original comment that I posted earlier.
Hi Ashish, I did not see your new video. Am I missing it?
