Hi friends! Kurt in Seattle here. Been a subscriber here for 3 years. A few days ago, I told Tomo I had the blues bad. Unexpectedly last week I had to put my best little buddy, Corkscrew "Corker" the Cat, to sleep. I didn't even know he was sick on Christmas Day! Tomo said "You got a lot of blues now". Tomo said we have pet lovers here at Guitar Wisdom. I'm posting this quick attempt at remembering Tomo's beautiful song "Room 418" as a tribute to Corker. I haven't been playing acoustic much lately. Corker used to sit with me really early in the morning when I practiced with Tomo. We learned this during the pandemic. Really miss him. I bet you really love your furry friends too.
Do you play for your pet?
(I played my late 70's Martin D-41 and used my I-phone to film.)
Hi Kurt,
Your love for your furry friend, shines through this beautiful performance. What a loving tribute to Corker! And what a clear expression of your deep seated feelings for him.
Our pet friends enter deep into our hearts and make our lives so much richer. I have a friend who once said that her emotional attachment to her beloved cats over her lifetime was so great that when she lost her last one, she’d never get another one so as not to go through the pain again.
I reflected on her decision, and respect it. But for me, the joy, companionship, and sadness are all worth it! Fond memories of Corker will continue to warm your heart. This is most evident in how you played this song where your love greatly exceeds the miss steps that you were aware of, and the rest of us not so much.
The void left behind by his sweet presence is a wonderful reminder of the sacredness of life. So while it is sad, it is also so enriching. A heartfelt hug coming your way from me.
Dang Ken! That so nice. Thanks for the long-distance love. I appreciate it more than you know. I was saying goodbye to my Corkscrew at the Vet at exactly this time 1 week ago. It's like everything is different and unsettled around here. Really hoping time soothes this savage beast. Wait, I think I'm mixing up my old sayings. :0(
Thanks also for all your contributions at GW! I always like to hear what you think about things and are up to as we travel here on our fun journey.
Best.
Kurt
Hi Kurt!
Sorry for your loss. Very sad indeed. We have our beloved cat and would be and will be devastated when she passes on! She is a family cat in the truest sense of the word. Follows us around everywhere, rarely is she without us. She greets us when she comes home and sits by the door and cries when one of us is gone. Truly a great connection. I know yours touched you in many ways, too. Again sorry for your loss.
As for the blues, we all got some blues in us. I've been dealing with severe chronic pain for the past 7 years with no end in sight and I'm giving the blues a shot, too!
You are sounding good and love that Martin. I too am a Martin man, D18!
Music not only soothes the savage beast or our best pet friends it also helps us deal with the pain and turns it into something beautiful!
Keep making gorgeous music Kurt!!!
Thank you so much Michael! I appreciate your kind words.
I'm so glad to be here with people like you.
I enjoy reading your comments. You have a positive attitude that is inspiring.
Good news today: See the end of the next page to see how I self-medicated today.
Going to be a great Spring.
