Have been learning this progression in preps to jazz blues and etude soloing. My dog Ziggy starts singing at about 45 seconds from other room as back up vocals... Joy.
Metronome Franz 40 (: - johno
Thanks Johno for starting this thread! I love R 3 7 Bb Blues so much!
One of my favorite exercises! Your finger picking sounds good! Good job!
The Franz metronome sound so good too!
Beautiful duet with Ziggy!
Metronome at 40.
I think you run 3 times.
Before you start playing this chord progression.
You should move your body with this groove!
Without any sound, I would like to see you grooving.
Chord progression is
1 4 1 1
4 4 1 1
5 4 1 5
Please check first & 2nd chorus.
3rd time you are playing correct chord changes.
Very easy to mix up chords. Think this way...
Maybe you should sing a melody (inside or lightly sing)
Choices:
1) Blue Monk
2) Bag's Groove (by Milt Jackson)
3) C Jam Blues (Count Basie)
Those melodies are fun to sing.
Maybe you can practice to play "The Charleston beat"
(The Charleston beat is a syncopated rhythm in 4/4 time that's often used in jazz, blues, and pop music. It's based on the popular 1920s dance of the same name...)
Have more fun!
Thank you.
Tomo
Hey Johno nice timing with the metronome, and I like that you’re learning to stash the pick too. This inspires me to give this a try this too. I laughed about Tomo’s comment regarding the Franz metronome because I ordered one from eBay a couple days ago for $21! Should be here soon.
Also Tomo’s suggestion to hum those melodies over the top is sprinkled gold!
LOL! Right on Ken! Guess we think alike. My Franz metronome will be here soon from some small shop in Oregon called "Glass and Things". I bought their only metronome :-). I got a Franz L5 in walnut- like my bathroom cabinets! Mine doesn't have a flashing disco light on the top like one of Tomo's metronomes does. Does yours have a disco light on top?
I am working on stashing that pick while playing. That is hard! I think my record before I drop it is 20 seconds.
But the best news of al is that instead of metronoming ,my phone will be free to perform its main purpose- displaying all my cute Corker the Cat pictures:-)
Kurt
Like minds, right Kurt! No Saturday Night Fever on mine, but it is an L5M (mahogany), be here tomorrow.
Glad you've fine-tuned your phone's main purpose, sweet...:)
Disco lights and sprinkled gold from a Metronome, good times from an original beat box, no battery or winders :) Luv it! Now that is tone wood guys, cheers - johno
