Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

Hi!

Im excited to begin my guitar journey. My biggest inspiration is masayoshi takanaka and because of him i bought my first guitar and started this course!

I went through the major chords videos but keep on hearing about triads. However on the essential theory videos, i see the first mention of triads on ET12 and there are a lot of scales before this. My plan was to do all videos in order but because of the mention of triads in B5 i am really not sure what order to proceed. My goal is to learn guitar completely (and play Blue Lagoon :D) and also learn the fundamentals of music theory since i know that knowledge will take me far but im really confused on the order of videos i should see for my long guitar journey. Would really appreciate guidance on what order i should learn! thank you very much!

I understand your concern.

Triad inversions are very important but first you need to know the all major scale notes on the fretboard so you really should watch a lot on Essential Theory section. Yes. Basic scales so that you will understand all notes on the fretboard. Then a lot easier to learn triad inversions & 7th chords too.

Masayoshi Takanaka really understood basic harmony and jazz harmony. Blue Lagoon is a great song! Intro... Dim7 to Maj7... What a great sound! That chord progression is based on Jazz Standard! Hope you enjoy your guitar journey!

Welcome, Thiago! You are in the right place :)
It can be tempting to jump ahead, but as Tomo pointed out, working on the basics is important to do first. Work through the ET section from ET01 C Major Scale.

A couple of tips:
- Watch first without your guitar to absorb the information
- Take notes (use a notebook)
- Review your notes and the lesson material!
