Super duper important and it's so difficult to do this well.

1) Picking position: You should pick near the front pickup for warmer tone.
2) When you place 4th finger, make sure 123 fingers are on the string (touching lightly)
3) Play a little bit slower.
4) Do this every single day!

Thanks for the comment! No matter how good the materials are, I end up making a lot of mistakes without realizing it, so I really appreciate the feedback. I'll keep practicing little by little, about 10 minutes a day.

I used to think I'd improve just by covering songs, but in the end, you really can't skip the basics. There's no real "mastering" fundamental practice, so I'll keep working steadily and compare myself to who I was in the past. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you so much for the advice. Just to make sure I understand correctly—does that mean I’m bending the string downward when I press it the way I currently do?
Am I supposed to press the string straight down onto the fretboard, like I did in the video?

Thanks for showing this.... now your 4th finger...last note is too short!
You need to sustain all the way.

Look at your fingers & string very closely.
Your string moved a little downward...so you need to fix these two points.

It's really difficult because when I focus on one thing, I end up neglecting another. I now understand well why it's important to practice slowly—there's no way to pay attention to all the different elements unless I take my time.
Please let me practice a bit more.

If it's very difficult and you are doing well!
Not easy at all! Need a lot of attention on every details.
That's why this simple exercise is really difficult to understand it.

I do super insanely slow and pay attention on every details.
And I often record myself so I can notice every tiny noises.

It's precisely because it's so simple that it’s also so challenging—and such an effective practice in many ways.
I’ve never spent this much time practicing the chromatic scale so carefully before.
It might just be my imagination, but I feel like this kind of simple practice is already starting to show in my playing.

I completely forgot that Tomo-sensei had advised me to play closer to the front pickup. In the second video, I was playing more in the middle rather than toward the front.
It’s such a simple thing, but because there are so many details to pay attention to, I tend to forget.
Right now, I’m writing everything down on paper to keep it organized. From now on, I’ll make sure to refer to it while I play.

Takano, that was a big takeaway for me from the November challenge. Write it down! Then after a week go back and look at what you practiced earlier and you will be able to see how much you have progressed!

On your comment about "focusing on one thing while neglecting another"...music is so vast that if you try to absorb it all at once you will become lost. "Don't worry". Tomo talks about the value of limitations in this video...

Good job! Each note has more sustain. That part is really good.

Finger position: You can spread between 2nd and 3rd finger,
That's not easy but you can make your fingers 1 2 3 4 more even.
Your 4th finger could be a little close to your 3rd finger.

Good job, Takano! I can see the improvements with what you mentioned. Keep going! 10 minutes a day. Work the spread in your fingers as Tomo suggested. He showed me recently how he can evenly spread his 4 fingers wide and have the tips line up. It was amazing to see that sort of unnatural ability look so effortless, knowing that he practiced this every day for decades. Use that visual as motivation!

It must be amazing to see it right in front of you—I’m a bit jealous!
I thought I was stretching my fingers wide enough, but looking closely, it seems I wasn’t.
Since human hands aren’t naturally made for playing the guitar, the way Tomo-sensei plays so smoothly really shows how much passion and dedication he has poured into it over the years. I can feel the weight of that history.
