Good day Tomo and Guitar wisdom fellows,
While learning the melody part of Kyoto, I came up with a question that I can't understand. In the 11th measure of the melody, the chord goes from EbMaj7 to A13, but the melody plays a bending from Eb to F and back to Eb under the chord A13. In my understanding, Eb is the augmented fourth of A and it should sound like conflict or 'devil' to the chord, but it actually sounds nice. Is there any music theory I don't know behind this?
It might sounds dummy to pros lol, thanks in advance for answering. By the way Kyoto is my favorite guitar music!
Thank you for your question!
First of all, when I write my own song, I don't think about music theory that much.
I think some parts so it goes smoothly but I have to be careful to think too much!
This melody came up very naturally so it sounds good to my ears!
That melody is just C minor pentationic ... over jazz chords.... so those we don't analize them.
Hope my answer is helping you!
Thank you so much! The reason you like this music because not all correct in music theory!
Tomo
Thanks, Tomo!
"The reason you like this music because not all correct in music theory!" I should write down on my notebook.
My pleasure!
That's so correct!
Music is not about correct numbers or one correct answer!
However... Essential Music Theory 30 lessons are very important!
